Hi CP,
Did you read some of the comments with the nbcsports link?

It’s easy to blame the rich guy based on a blog post but check the facts. Tepper entered into an agreement with York County/Rock Hill to partner in the practice field. It was a win/win for both. The reality is York County/Rock Hill never paid the money they agreed to pay for their part in the venture. Tepper gave them a year to pay the agreed upon money and they not only didn’t but they never issued the bonds to raise the mone y and said that “the political climate had changed”. They just refused to pay after he spent $170million and his “partner” bailed. If anyone blames Tepper for this mess you don’t know the facts. His blame is trusting the locals in SC
Anyone would walk away if their “partner” blatantly refused to uphold the contract. The Investigation is political.
I didn't
but then again I didn't necessarily expect him to be found guilty of the charge either
Happy New Year Paul (and everyone else)

I don't know anything about David Tepper or the issue in question but I will point out that the comments section on PFT is so notably bad that there's a guy who has made a career in sports media/podcasting from parodying them.

I think our transfer dealings in the summer will leave people feeling confident.

Frees a wage up,also we don't know how weakened his ankle is, remainder of the season will be tough so i trust VK to have something up his sleeve.

He’d better take some decent tea bags with him. Dreadful tea out there! Been a great player for us. Good luck to him.

Just had a look. Their highest paid player is $42k pw, with the next nearest being $17k. Gut feel is it won’t free it all up but a decent amount.

When it is one of our people who has served us well, like Westwood, I wish him well. Makes sense for him and for us. Who knows, maybe Tealyra ship out there

If Westwood wants to go to further his career, then good luck to him, been a damn good signing for what we paid, however he will be 33 soon, and is likely one of our higher earners, so it makes sense for all parties if we can move him on this window.
Likewise with Lowton another who's served us well for many seasons, but again he's ageing and also probably on a hefty salary.
Given Kompany's record in the market I'm happy to trust him to unearth a few more rough diamonds.

We need to be strengthening midfield now. The current players are capable of bossing it in the Championship but will be over run again in the Premier League.
Ash has been a great servant but its him for him to move on.

He's been great for us, as I'm sure we've been for him. Whilst I appreciate he is on a wedge, he would have provided invaluable cover with a minimum drop off in quality for the rest of the season. He probably would have needed a couple of games to get up to speed and that may well be a luxury we can't afford in financial and footballing terms.
It makes more sense as a package deal. 2 or 3 experienced players, that haven't contributed this season, off the wage bill with the reinvestment focussed on (PL) quality for next season. I mentioned this before but loans with obligations to buy look a shrewd move for clubs in our position.
Thanks Ashley - a really good servant who moulded his game to the manager's instructions. I think it's a good lifestyle move for him and his family and I wish him every success and happiness.

I’m a season ticket holder at Charlotte FC. There was some whispers about this a few weeks ago but I didn’t think Charlotte would pursue it.
This is a marquee signing for Charlotte. It’s also good business for us. I’m not sure Westwood was going to get back into our side barring an injury crisis.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing him play again. Although the standard in the MLS is rising I expect him to be dominant given his experience and know-how.

to be fair you can buy (hot) tea bags pretty much anywhere, including restaurants, even McDonalds sell hot tea.
If you go to stores like Walmart, you can even get Yorkshire tea.
But yeah, if you ask for a tea it's going to be by default iced and sweetened.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. We've obviously been without Westwood all season, we haven't really missed him, we have good cover and the transfer wouldn’t give us the funds we need to sign a replacement ready to step up to the PL.

People like you make me sick. If you can contribute nothing, then go ahead and contribute nothing - it will be a far more productive contribution than just slagging off the people who are doing the work to make this site what it is.
You might succeed in your ambition to drive the moderators away and shut the site down. But why would that make you feel better?

How does the discussion about a potential outgoing player turn into a finance/financier discussion? Just asking.

I think there may be a suggestion that the owner of the American team that Ash is going to, may be a potential investor in Burnley.

If you look a little earlier in the thread you will see that Chester Perry raised a finance question about the owner of the club Ashley Westwood may be going to.
If you look further down the thread you will see that CP has now provided link that confirms "nothing to be concerned about."

That's a bit like adding 2 and 2 and making 200 million, or any other far fetched number.
And, I know see that he has his own thread, but under the name Typo Pepper.

It is a perfect example of how a message board thread can twist and turn it began like this, a misjudged statement and some hopeful speculation

The owner of the team he is going to is also the wealthiest owner in the NFL- hoping we are sending him Westy to cement a friendship that will see him joining his fellow countrymen on our board of directors
I pointed out this

Not really a failure, just a victim of constant changes of manager and a board willing to splash the cash and get rid of the majority of the squad at the time, including likes of Lowton, Enda Stevens, Ciaran Clarke, Baker. Think it was Remi Garde that just got rid of the nucleus of British players and brought in a load of overpriced players that weren't up to much

Ashley was seen as a failure at Villa before he came to us. He fit in so well at our club and will always be seen as a success
Interestingly the assistant manager at the club he’s going to was part of that villa set up I believe

Best of luck to Westy! He’s been a fantastic servant of our club and I wish him and his family the very best for the future.

Villa fans didn't rate Lowton either if I remember rightly.
No question that Sean Dyche and Burnley FC put new life into the careers of both Lowton and Westwood.
But it's time for them (and us?) to move on.

If I were him I'd be more concerned about having a girls name in the USA rather than getting a cup of hot tea.
I don't think I've met a single man with the name Ashley in the USA.
