Rovers fans will do anything to not see the game

Post by wilks_bfc » Fri Apr 21, 2023 1:00 pm

A fan has been given a 3yr ban after buying tickets for the game on Tuesday for a Burnley fan

https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2023/apri ... -year-ban/

If you go through the effort of buying a ticket like that why would you then “advertise” that you’ve done so?

Those who have tickets for the home end need to take note.

If they gave us more tickets this wouldn't happen,, but what a joke they asked pne for extra tickets and received another 500 for Saturdays game.

Alan Pace should send him a season ticket for the Clarets for next season.

Why?
We're not going to be wearing colours...and Rossendale accents hardly disqualify us.

Can you contain yourself if we score? Will you “blend in” if they score (I know they need the ball first to do that).

This. You’ll need to be stoney faced if we score and cheering if Rovers score. I know I couldn’t do it, better off watching on the tv and having natural reactions.

Rovers are clearly taking the possibility of clarets being in the home end very seriously.

It's hard going in amongst opposition fans
We got in with the Scotland fans at Wembley and trying not to leap about when England scored was tough.

Burnley fans in the home end obviously potentially causes problems but a three year ban seems very heavy-handed.

Seems there is a queue starting to form outside the ticket office at Deadwood, ST holders hoping for the same deal.

I could never understand anybody wanting to sit in the Blackburn end. There would be no way I could contain myself if we scored.

If there are Burnley fans in the home end then we know why.
As soon as there is a goal either way, and it will be apparent anyway, they will be swiftly moved to the away end....job done!

I'm fortunate enough to be in hospitality, albeit in the Jack Walker Stand.
Keeping schtum will be difficult if we score. (I'd like to say 'when'.)
I had an issue in the same situation when Blake scored his screamer in 2009... I couldn't help myself as I followed some of the Burnley directors (seated a couple of rows away) in jumping to my feet. I was called some names, let's just say that.

I'm also lucky enough to have managed to be in hospitality there. Seriously doubt i can keep a lid on it if we score but am assuming the crowd in there will be reasonably civilised.

What a joke of a club. In the article they say they want their supporters to enjoy the game in a safe and appropriate manner, yet their actions in only allowing us 2000 tickets, flies right in the face of that statement. Ludicrous.

Numpty with no experience in business: Nice to meet you, its says here you're CEO of Blackburn Rovers, what does that mean?

Steve Waggott: I’ve got the operational oversight of the whole business

Numpty: Sounds like a lot of responsibly, I suppose its your job to get the most income for the football club then?

Steve Waggott: Yep

Numpty: I see Burnley are visiting next week, local derby and that. How many are they bringing to Ewood Park?

Steve Waggott: 2000

Numpty: How many could they have brought?

Steve Waggott: 7000

Numpty: I mean, how many were you expecting them to bring?

Steve Waggott: 7000

Numpty: How many tickets went on sale for them?

Steve Waggott: 2000

Numpty: How many tickets are you going to give them overall?

Steve Waggott: 2000

Numpty: Sorry what is it you do again?

I'm in Hospitality on the Turf and before every game any away supporters are warned not to make themselves known if their team scores.

Three of us (Leeds fan, Man United fan and myself) went to watch Man United v Leeds, sat in the Stretford end.

Leeds scored and my Leeds supporting mate couldn’t hold it in. Jumped up, about to celebrate and then realised what he was doing and where he was. Credit to him for a bit of quick thinking when he shouted, “who the **** was marking him”?

It’s so difficult to contain emotions in games like that or ours against Rovers.

Most awkward one I’ve had was at Huddersfield watching them play Bradford City. I was sat in the away end when I suddenly heard someone shout, “what are you doing in here you Burnley w@nker”?

That must have been some time ago now - our future failure of a manager scored from at least one corner, possibly two (my memory may be playing tricks on me for the second one).

I sat at Old Trafford with a red season ticket-holding mate of mine when they thrashed us 0-0. I had no difficulty expressing myself as a Claret. I feel in those circumstances it’s clear you’re with a home club-supporting mate, and that’s fair do’s

I agree it sounds like bullshit. I wonder if Rovers are worried their fans aren't buying tickets because of away fans in the stands.

Without realising of course that the main reason they can't sell tickets is because no bugger wants to watch them.

Sat in Utd home end a couple of times. We didn't score in either game, so that wasn't a problem. Made me laugh when Utd scored though, must have been 50 people I could see slumped in their seats unmoved. Full of tourists anyway, so no one cared it was clearly full of clarets. Suspect Ewood will be different, they must all know each other for a start..

I had to do that many moons ago at Belle Vue when we played Doncaster away. A friendly chap give us his tickets, but they were for the home end. Bit my tongue when we took the lead, but then they scored two right in front of us and I had to pretend to be excited.

Definitely couldn't do it for Rovers.

I have been offered a couple of season tickets from Rovers fan's I work with. They both said they can't go and watch us sing "Bring on the Champions" if we win tomorrow or, even worse, watch us beat them to become champions! Luckily I'm in the away end as there is no chance I could sit in the home end and enjoy the game. I'd have preferred to watch at home.

I’m from Bingley and was spotted by Bradford City fans that knew me and that I’m a Burnley fan.

I'm beginning to think that there could be more Clarets in the home end than the away.
Probably outnumber the home support too, nothing to worry about then.

The problem isn't necessarily when we score. I almost got lynched in a home end when somebody took out a then welsh international (andy legg) with a shocking challenge. I shot up immediately and yelled an expletive - and I definitely wasn't supporting Cardiff. I was just a neutral.

I’m not sure I believe the article if I’m honest. No names mentioned yet everybody laps it up. How would they know until they found the person in their end with the ticket?

I imagine Blackburn’s strategy is to scare people so they don’t do it.

Really?.. I'm not not sure I've read or heard about anyone being arrested and/or charged purely with being in the wrong end of a football match.

We don't expect the slightest bit of trouble..although any celebration (hopefully) will be left until the final whistle blows by which time any home support will be long gone.

The rumours in Blackburn are that the Burnley fan bragged about it on social media, but I still don't get how they identify the season ticket holder, or has any offence been committed until somebody attempts to enter the ground with the ticket

I think it's a poor attempt to stop anyone actually doing it

Got thrown out of T'Rovers' Nuttall Street stand many years ago when I jumped up to celebrate an Arsenal Ian Wright penalty.

Was also outed in an away pub when Rovers visited Charlton and I was having a drink with some Rovers mates. As per the above..."What the ---- are you doing in here you Burnley b@stard! "

Managed to get a ticket in the home end for the semi final at reading. Struggled to keep calm after first goal, second one went in and I let out some sort of wail and put my head in my heads to try and stifle it. The old timer in front of me turned round and said never mind mate there's always next year. By that point I could only make squeeking noises with my head on my lap and he starts patting me on my back.
By the end of the game all the reading fans around me had left so I was stood up singing. Great night, would have been greater in the away end.

Nice one. I was dancing in the Craven at the time.

The rumours in Blackburn are that the Burnley fan bragged about it on social media, but I still don't get how they identify the season ticket holder, or has any offence been committed until somebody attempts to enter the ground with the ticket

I think it's a poor attempt to stop anyone actually doing it
This.

Was stationed at RAF St Athan when Rovers played Spurs in League Cup Final.

I had family & other B*stard fans going to the match so I met up with them for a pint or 3, I went to the bar & bumped into an old work colleague & was chatting to him whilst ordering a round, it took him around 30 seconds to remember I was a Claret, now stuck in the in the middle of a couple of hundred b*stard fans.

So I walked back to the table getting grief, but not as much as when I stood on my chair & lifted up my sweater to show the mighty Claret & Blue!!

They all went to the match & I watched in another bar, almost getting battered by Spurs fans who, because of my accent, thought I was a B*stard, I corrected them & enjoyed several free drinks as an apology! Gutted that Spurs were Spursy & lost!
