Hilarious. Proof, if ever needed, that every position taken, by you any everyone else it seems, is nothing more than a rhetorical one which you pick up and put down when it suits.

Spiral announced on a thread recently that he likes to take a dab of acid every now and then. Enough said.

Re: Mission to Burnley
But it does impact our lives and has done for a long time.
We have what is referred to as a Constitutional Monarch who is also the head of the Church of England. And as such we have almost 30 CoE Bishops in the House of Lords.
I thin that is wrong, others may disagree but to say religion does not impact our lives is inaccurate. When there is a disaster they invariably wheel out some religious type to spout his or her pious views on the matter as though they are the only ones who can do so. The rest of us clearly aren't worthy.

The sad thing is that we have a TV series that will give the club and our fanbase worldwide TV coverage, and on here we have a thread like this one - where the series has been pulled apart even before it has been aired. Embarrassing or what.

You’re wrong because there’s virtually no evidence that you’re right. I could argue the documentary is about that woman in the last teaser and her mission to ensure all the tables are clean and I’d have as much evidence for that argument as you’d have for yours.

Not sure if it has been mentioned anywhere else but there's a good interview with Kompany in the Times today linked to this documentary

Did he mention being converted to Mormonism by any chance ... apparently according to some on here we will all soon be "members of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints" if we watch itJohnDearyMe wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 3:28 pmNot sure if it has been mentioned anywhere else but there's a good interview with Kompany in the Times today linked to this documentary

I don’t think anyone has actually claimed that the purpose of the documentary is to convert Burnley fans to Mormonism. Not sure why some people keep making reference to this.

Re: Mission to Burnley
It's remarkable how despite me having dropped references to me entertaining myself on different threads at different times, people's heads still combust when they see my name like they somehow aren't reading something that is part sincerely held belief/part creative writing exercise. I'm just trying to provoke people into thinking outside their settled ideas whenever I think those ideas are daft or not thought through very well, and the actual point is to be overbearing. That's not the same thing as trolling, or going out of my way to disrupt threads — for the most part I say my piece then there follows a dogpile which I respond to because I think it's funny and it's the forum equivalent of a mosh pit which is more fun than the 'what's your favourite biscuit' chat.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 8:44 amHe's certainly having a laugh at this forum's expense.

Okay then, your all-caps ejaculation (a very small ejaculation, it must be said) strongly implies that to be boring is not virtuous, and that implied concept necessarily presupposes its negation, that to be the opposite of boring is a virtue, so, aspiring no longer to want to be perceived as one who is boring, and therefore, to be perceived as one greatly endowed with virtue, I'll henceforth speak dingle in an attempt to ingratiate myself to the resident yokels, and start some chat about the kind of thing for which, it seems, everyone is really here: ee by 'eck by gum lad, what's your favourite gravy?AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 7:03 pmSpiral

Re: Mission to Burnley
I listened to the Turfcast podcast yesterday who were interviewing the producer of the documentary. They talked to him for around an hour and he didn't mention Mormonism once. What he did say was that because Dyche was resistant to the documentary and then left that they needed a character as a 'hook' to carry the story through. That person turned out to be Pace. Like it or not, a part of Pace's life is his faith (as it is for many people, whatever faith they choose), so will feature to a degree but I can't see it being a major part of the series, largely because the Burnley story of last season is that much more exciting than a bloke going to church.

Couple of queries, possibly nobody knows but wondered:
- Does this actually cover Dyche's sacking? I.e, were the cameras in at that point in time?
- Are they doing one for this season too?

According to the Guardian article..
'..a four-parter that covers the sacking of Sean Dyche, relegation from the Premier League, Vincent Kompany’s appointment and Burnley’s Championship triumph.'

Said that they were approached during Dyches tenure but he didn’t want to do it.
Once the decision was made to sack they moved quickly to get the cameras in. Said it was rare to have the perfect story arch of relegation and promotion in the same series

It makes sense in a way because the Dyche sacking was ballsy and could have gone completely the other way. Who's wants what could have had the potential to be their worst executive decisions documented on camera?Venkys4eva wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 2:44 pmAfter reading this I think back street shots are the least of my worries

Five fingers?
He's laying it on a bit imo.
Re: Mission to Burnley
I refuse to believe that anyone who sits in the Bob Lord stand has the actual energy to do anything that can be described as remotely resembling 'almost charging', or telling someone to f-off and die. Coked up lads in the CFS, absolutely, it'd be weirder if they weren't doing that, but in the BL stand? Nah. Some embellishment happening there.

Could I make a suggestion/request r.e the discussion of this doc?
There is EVERY chance I smash this in one sitting, but a lot won't or might do it over a couple of days or whatever. For the avoidance of spoilers would anyone else want to have an 'Episode 1' thread, 'Episode 2' thread and so on?
(Just putting this thought here to see what people think!).
