Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
An example of a fairly recent buy back...
In 2018, Man City sold Spanish left back Angeliño to PSV. Angeliño had signed a five year contract in Eindhoven but just over a year later, Man City bought him back.

I wish people would stop putting any faith whatsoever in Wikipedia when it comes to transfers. I could make myself a Burnley player, anyone can edit it.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
A normal buy back would be the selling club can trigger it after a set date. For example Lavia at Southampton. Man City have a buy back that is only active as of 2024 for a set amount (which is lower than the current fee being talked about). Once triggered the 2 parties, buying club and player will enter talks and discuss terms. The one with Villa seems a little different, the only explanation I can see is they are agreeing terms now so that it’s almost a case of if Villa decide to have him back they do not need to enter into negotiations with Ramsey over pay and bonuses etc it’s a done deal instantly.
That brings its own issues. How can I player agree terms for the future? It’s all relative surely? If he’s on 10k now let’s say and he’s agreed to go back in 2 years for 20k then that’s all well and good but what if he has an absolutely exceptional season and scores 20? You could argue he could be worth 60k a week. That would then make the current talks a bit pointless.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Lots of talk from Chelsea bloggers that Maatsen will leave once these two big signings come in. Personally I reckon it will depend on if the geezer with all the hair goes to Newcastle which I heard rumoured.
Ironically the dosh Burnley will be offering will exceed his current contract (by far, probably), so it isn’t just keeping him, it is putting him on a contract at Chelsea more akin to a proper PL player not a youngster.
I can see why we are leaving that position unfilled but we do need to make sure we have options if it goes belly up.

Interesting stat just come out from last weekends games. Al Dakhil ranked 2nd fastest behind Gordon of Newcastle. Nice having quick CB’s

Yes, once he becomes more experienced it will be major attribute for him. Only 21 years old.Greekclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 8:31 pmInteresting stat just come out from last weekends games. Al Dakhil ranked 2nd fastest behind Gordon of Newcastle. Nice having quick CB’s

If Maatsen did come in, what pre season has shown is how versatile he is and how he could be as much of a utility player as Vitinho on the left hand side when required. It would mean getting another left back in though.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 8:21 pmLots of talk from Chelsea bloggers that Maatsen will leave once these two big signings come in. Crystal Palace have considered formally reporting Chelsea for making an illegal approach to Michael Olise.
There are concerns at Palace that Chelsea’s move for Olise has contravened transfer rules and etiquette.

That doesn't surprise me at all it was widely reported weeks ago he had already agreed terms with Chelsea which I found was strange, how do you go about proving it though is the question.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 9:10 pmCrystal Palace have considered formally reporting Chelsea for making an illegal approach to Michael Olise.

This is shaping up to be the best transfer window in the club's history. If we somehow manage to get Maatsen in you could argue it has been virtually perfect. A few missed targets here or there, but we've been quick to move on when that has happened and we're on the verge of having a squad, not just a team, a squad with no real weak areas, and it's been so long since I can remember thinking that.

Napoli is apparently interested in Bakayoko and soon to start with an opening bid. The player expressed his preference in BURNLEY. Really hope this transfer comes through. He's very similar to Jeremy Doku who's going to Man City now for around 50 mil. Maybe even more complete in his scoring and passing ability. A bit less fast and explosive too, which is no shame because Doku is one of the fastest accelerating players I've ever seen.

I make it that with Ramsey we will have about 36 first team players registered (including Weghorst, MaNally, BP-F and the other loanees plus the long- term injuries to Churlinov, Obafemi, CJE-R).Spiral wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 10:55 pmThis is shaping up to be the best transfer window in the club's history. There are also five goalkeepers on the list and no-one appears to be leaving the building just yet to top up the piggy bank. I’m not complaining but I’m amazed at how this is being funded.

But Napoli is a big team to compete with, with a big budget I'd recon. If we have the money for him we should get him. Huge potential player. Could be worth up to 40-50 mil after this season.

Sacha Tavolieri
Said Napoli want him to replace Hirving Lozano. But 2 PL clubs also interested.

Sure bro. It said Sacha Tavolieri made a comment about Napoli's serious interest and about to make an offer or already made an offer not quite clear to me. And that he stated before that Bakayoko would prefer a Burnley move. Probably talked with Vinnie. For his own development I also think working with Kompany would be great to get a good foundation in a system that's made for him. Burnley being a team where he would get playing time and grow along with the club each season.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
The formation that Vince can offer which is not to be underestimated for a young player. Look at the development of Al Dakhil for example or Zaroury and Benson. Who have made huge steps from being a random promising young player at a mid Belgian side to being internationals for their country. Also Cullen or Maatsen... It's unbelievable how much young players could learn from a passionate intelligent coach with the right background.
You can compare it to learning from Pep. For many young players he's the dream coach. But he's so high up there's not many opportunities for young players. Look at how even Foden had to struggle to get in the team. Burnley gives a young player all the benefits of working under Pep with alot more chances to get in the team. Also not underestimate the impact Kompany has made on Belgian football in particular among players with African roots who see him as a role model. Probably their hero growing up watching football. He was a class act as a player.
In Bakayoko's case you can imagine... It would be a perfect step up for him.

Bakayoko isn't that young. Just checked. He's 28, so some of the thinking above is misplaced.

UEFA have introduced 5 year limit for player amortisation under their FFP rules commencing this season. But, this may just be for clubs playing in Europe. I don't know if these same rules apply to all Premier League clubs.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 5:57 pmThank you for posting that. Fair points against my question. Napoli’s front line with Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia would have strong pulling power though.
