But never really looked like they could score and looked increasingly more likely to concede on counter attack. Bournemouth could snd probably should have had 2 or 3 goals before they scored their second goal.South West Claret. wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:33 pmLoads of possession and won the game on points…..but picked up none yet again

Was it diabolical, or unlucky, seems you're struggling to decide.JR1882 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:23 pmIt’s okay saying let’s give him until next season, but that’s a long way away and patience is now exhausted. It’s going to get very toxic.
Time for Alan to make a change, this is diabolical on all levels.
Unlucky in places today but you don’t get to cry bad luck when it’s March and you have 13 points. Schoolboy defending again too.
This year has been crap, agreed... But I cannot think of anyone who realistically could come in and do better next season than the person who just walked that league... Very short memory

Alright people saying give him a chance next season but if we come back up, and a its a big IF, how can you trust him in the PL again when this year he has been an absolute disaster (one home win), and there is for me a big question mark on his ability to motivate playersJR1882 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:23 pmIt’s okay saying let’s give him until next season, but that’s a long way away and patience is now exhausted. But what you’re not considering at all, is VK was successful in that season in large because everyone bought into it.
He’s looking like ending this season below 20 points and no doubt there will be large swaithes of fans that are sick of him.
He will be under immense pressure if not in the top 2 straight from the off next season.

He tackled himself more than he was tackled today. Gets in good positions and then needlessly falls over or lets the ball go out of play/to the opposition.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:05 pmWould play Vitinho right wing every game now instead of JBG. One of the few highlights today. He has speed and trickery and best kept away from defence

I don't doubt he will be under pressure, I've said previously I'd look after 10 games, if those fans are sick of him, perhaps they might consider staying awayNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 5:15 pmBut what you’re not considering at all, is VK was successful in that season in large because everyone bought into it.

Diagree-have a look at todays player ratings which are quite rightly low, but Vitinho has consistently scored 7 and I would be surprised if he does not end up as MOM when all polls are completedSalouClaret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 5:17 pmHe tackled himself more than he was tackled today. Tbf I don’t think that attitude is beneficial for the club at all.
The only way our club is successful is if it’s pulling in the same direction.
That’s honestly why I can’t see a long term future where VK is successful here. Even if he gets promoted next season what happens then? Another season of the worst football in many fans life times?

The crowd were good first half and really responded to the effort of the team. It's easy to understand the frustration and what other way do they have to show that frustration that on the terraces so the board, manager and players can hear it, as ultimately they are the only ones that can change things.

Yeah me too … I’m not over the moon we are getting relegated and are on 13 points … but I’m not in the ‘get rid of this clown’ group
An incredible high season has been followed by an incredible low
Normal to be frustrated but getting rid is a mistake for me

Very likely to be our worst ever season in terms of points per game. That will be one thing that no apologist for this disaster of a manager and his wretched project will be able to argue away

Re: Get this clown out
I think I've seen enough.
I've had concerns with this 'model' and style of recruiting and I just don't see it being successful and fostering a proper team ethos.
Not sure where we go from here but this isn't for me.

Re: Get this clown out
On a number of metrics it is. In the grand scheme of things is it as bad as the 3rd or 4th tier, of course not. But in isolation as a single season it's appalling - we're on track for one of if not our worst points tally ever, our worst home points tally ever, we've already broke the PL record for most home defeats, the 'good football' tag, subjective at the best of times, is countered by a few basic facts- we don't score many, we concede lots, most of our 'pretty play' and possession is dithering in our own half or third, with the occasional move forward. Today was one of our best performances of the season and we lost 2-0 at home breaking the home defeat record.
It's abject misery and regarding Kompany what I find hard to reconcile is the following:
-Many of the ardent 'Kompany In' fans, were confidently predicting we'd walk the Championship last season before a ball was kicked, they took it as a formality, quoting the bookies favouring us for the title. I, and a number of others, were less optimistic. I predicted mid table, maybe playoffs, due to the extent of the rebuild.
-Those same "we'll walk it" fans are now generally suddenly saying Kompany overachieved last season, that it was a massive success in excess of expectations- frankly untrue in their case given they expected to coast to the title. They're using other people's criteria to judge Kompany's performance. By their own standards, he hit the target last season, and by ANY measure cannot be deemed as anything but underperforming this season, especially next to Sheffield & in particular Luton in context- last season vs this as a measuring stick, summer spend etc.
I am just about still 'Kompany In', hanging by a thread but just about, I think stability and continuity is important in football and loyalty is to be admired. I increasingly worry he's lost the team, isn't learning or is in fact regressing, and last season was more a virtue of our relative spend/existing squad value vs the rest of the league and our core of Dyche holdovers. However- by MY standards, he overperformed versus last season's expectations, so for that reason I would keep him. But I don't understand how people who were so blase about last season, can still be saying "He's great and exceeded expectations" when he simply hasn't exceeded their own expectations. They're arguing out of a desire to 'win' against other people who are more critical rather than be intellectually honest and it just smacks of some emotional attachment to ALK's project rather than the club itself.

I think bottom of 4th division, years in 3rd and 4th divisions were far worse, more points possibly, but this season comes nowhere near any of those seasons, we might get relegated, but won't be one game away from extinction
Stats mean nowt in this case.

Re: Get this clown out
I'm not suggesting he was one of the worst players today, but he wasn't good. Definitely not good enough to be starting as a winger in the Premier League or even Championship. Watch the game again and count how many times he gave the ball away.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 5:23 pmDiagree-have a look at todays player ratings which are quite rightly low, but Vitinho has consistently scored 7 and I would be surprised if he does not end up as MOM when all polls are completed
He seems to do all the hard work but can't get the basics right. His reading of the game is good. If his legs could keep up with his brain he'd be a great player.

When you’re employed to do a job. Football manager or other wise. And when you do it as badly as VW has this season whether is scouting or buying players… picking the team deciding on tactics… and you fail miserable you deserve sacking. There no way back for him now with this club. Even if we win the championship next season. There will be a niggling doubt. Would you trust VK with another £100 million of the clubs money. Exactly. Theres your answer.

Re: Get this clown out
Kompany is a young manager learning. Last season most things worked very well. This season he's made lots of mistakes and we've had a terrible season.
So sack him and get no benefit of two seasons experience. Or keep him and write off this season to his development.
Look at Lampard Rooney and Gerrard.will any of them make it.
We all have to learn to do our jobs better. If I think back to when I was 30. I was inexperienced I would do a better job now. I was given the opportunity to learn and develop. I needed that and I appreciate it so much.
So despite such an awful season I would stick with him. I saw today signs that we would be able to dominate teams in the championship as we did last season.
We got the benefits of sticking with Dyche. Let's see if we get the benefits of sticking with Kompany.
