Re: The 'Penalty'
Definitely should have been given. The thing that really bugged me yesterday was VAR spending some minutes trying to prove that Muric had moved off his line before the pen was taken.....when was the last time you saw that checked? The premier league is a shitshow! Weren't they checking whether Assi...

Green Bay was built on fishing, the town was in terminal decline until the Packers started reaching outside the town , Burnley engineering (due to wool then cotton) all dying/ dead trades in the UK due to globalisation. In fairness no one saw Green Bay coming either… very similar towns struggling to matter after the death of their major industries. We have seen the impact of signing Foster (which many forget) saw a massive increase in the club’s awareness in South Africa as a result. JJ Watts work stateside… I exp...

Sorry for jumping on your post to Chester, but… I see it as; they saw not only a town in love with their club, but also a club they could afford to buy with the capacity of turning a post industrial town into a Green Bay Packers type town; where the failing fishing town was turned into a vibrant to...

One thing that really struck me today - after a very bright start Newcastle made a change to press high and stop our midfield from getting on the ball resulting in us being able to get out of our half. We’re getting totally overwhelmed and the players don’t have a clue what to do, Esteve goes down i...

There was an example of that in the West Ham Liverpool game on Saturday when Soucek’s goal-bound effort touched the keeper before going in. The own goal was “awarded” to Areola. Ah really. I think there is a fair argument for saying that any player that trys an overhead kick with their feet head height should be a red car whether the boot the opposition in the head or not. If you want that than we'll need a re-write of the rules to make a specific scenario for a keeper punching the ball because as the current rules are written you would have to interpret that the keeper challenging for the ball by trying to punch it is either seen as endangering players safety or usi...

Yep he did, but the point is, if it had been a Brighton player that played the ball towards goal, then Muric did exactly what he did, it would be credited to the Brighton player, not a Muric OG. I think it’s probably right that the last player to touch the ball gets credited with the own goal, but ...

No, you haven't understood my argument. I agree that if someone attempts to kick, head, or punch the ball and gets there a fraction late, then it is dangerous. The laws say that if it is done recklessly and with excessive force then it should be a red card. I put what Onana did in the same category...

Unless you want to ban keepers from punching the ball you’ve got to accept that things like that will happen and aren’t sendings off. By its very nature punching the ball away is always likely to be at head height in proximity to an attacking player and is therefore, just by being a legal part of t...

The red card is for excessive force while endangering an opponent. Such as diving in two-footed, the sort of offence that is a foul whether you get the ball or not. Onana went for the ball in the bog standard way that goalkeepers do, so unless the ref thinks that he was aiming for the man, he gets ...

A mistake to leave Murillo on the field whilst the sub was preparing. He looks to be carrying a groin injury which makes changing direction v difficult, and Haaland literally turned him inside out.
