Re: Heading in football - new guidance

As a midfielder in the mold of Brian Flynn, I support banning heading completely... at least in the games I'm playing in.

I certainly wouldn't be queuing up to head a 1950s football.

Phillips? Best in the tournament? He’s done far better than I thought he would but I’m still not convinced he should be anywhere near an England team. It was an enjoyable watch yesterday and Southgate deserves credit. I’ve criticised him for previous performances which are regularly turgid despite the quality in the squad. It will be a failure if they play with the handbrake on again, too regularly turning attacking opportunities into "safe possession". I think I'd prefer they give it a proper go and get beat, than watch another game like the last three.. Use the pace that's in the squad (yep ditch Kane) and Germany w...

It's a balance. Lots of people play too long (at the wrong level) and suffer physically as they age and regret it. My advice is to play for fun, look after yourself, and never, ever play injured. Basically what my Dad does and he still plays proper (not walking) football approaching 70!

He hasn’t had a save to make in 3 games, his job is to keep the ball if possible and be efficient in his work to keep things calm at the back..Major tournaments might be different but I can understand why Nick Pope isn’t the ideal choice when there are few saves to make.
