Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.

No reason to delay a deal. If they were that bothered we could have done the deal and made a gentleman’s agreement not to play him. (If you can say that) We could but for me that would really leave a sour taste considering the money involved. Has any club ever insisted that a player doesn’t play ag...

Well played lionesses, they have done themselves proud in this tournament. The tournament itself was great as well, good value and entertaining from the start. Glad it got the coverage it deserves. Nobody is suggesting Padiham or Clitheroe are better than Burnley and if there are any comparaions, context is applied. I sort of agree tbh, the women have had enough success that they can celebrate their accomplishments in their own right. No comparison to the men’s team needed

For me the question is why are the comparisons to the men’s game relevant or needed? It’s women vs women. No men involved. They don’t compete against men, and the existence of women’s football doesn’t impact the men’s game negatively. It’s not like the FA is thinking of shutting down the men’s game ...

You wouldn’t have thought so with some of the hype in the English media before this game. “Everything stops at 11am on Sunday as nation hopes Lionesses can Bring It Home” was the front page headline in Friday’s Evening Standard. Sometimes though, it’s a better world when you just let people enjoy things. Eg an English football team getting to the World Cup final.

I don’t see why every single thread about the women’s team needs comments about the standard. Nothing wrong with just saying well done.

Totally agree. It sounds more like a two year loan that we are paying £14m for. You’d assume the buy back will be for more than what we paid. If, for example, it was £28m then it’s a two year loan of a good player and we get paid £14m (minus wages) for the pleasure. If the buy back is for a set amou...
