Re: All English XI
From the Guardian: There have been a few teams that have since come close to taking the title. Steve McClaren’s starting Middlesbrough XI on 7 May 2006 contained 11 players with an average age of 20 years and 181 days – the youngest starting line-up in Premier League history. Fifteen of the 16 playe...

Re: Ashes third test
If Stokes knee has a week to recover to bowl 10 overs per innings, I’d go with:
Duckett
Bairstow
Crawley
Root
Brook
Stokes
Foakes
Ali
Woakes
Wood
Anderson
Serious batting depth, Crawley made his double century from no. 3, Bairstow opens in ODIs which is similar enough to Bazball to give it a try

Re: Can someone kindly remind me.
Barton was investigated from the September, charged in December, banned in April. Part of the delay was because he requested more time to prepare his defence. Suspect Toney is doing exactly the same to string it out to the end of the season. Timeline within these articles: https://www.theguardian.co...

How many appearances do you need to qualify for a medal? Is there anyone we need to bring on for a few minutes here and there in the remaining games so they can qualify?

Hopefully he can be like Ryan Giggs who made a similar move inside and improved his fitness as he got older. Just less like Ryan Giggs off the pitch!

What a crazy game - did the second goal actually go in or not? Inside the post and out through the side netting?

If this website is to be believed, not only is Barnes up to joint third in the list alongside Leighton James, but there’s a name at the top of the list that I’d never heard of. Andy McCluggage anyone?

Just out of interest, why does he miss the League Cup Final. I thought when Cork had his ban it was only for league games and not cup games because bans were competition specific. Anyone know the reason why this is different?

Re: Loans into Permanents...thoughts
Agreed on Tella - provided we keep Zaroury and Benson they will be first choice wingers (unless we buy someone better than them - and I don't think Tella is better than them). So effectively we'd be spending £10m on Tella for a backup winger (when we also have other backup wingers already, JBG, Twin...

Didn’t actually. Credit goes to HiThere on the match thread who first suggested it half way through the second half. I thought it was a good point worthy of further discussion.

Replay is the best outcome
This came up on the match thread. Getting a replay on the Turf is a better result than if we’d nicked a last minute winner. New players need exposure to English football and VK’s methods - Ekdal, Al Dakhil, Foster, Obafemi Fringe players need a run of games to demonstrate their full ability - Bastie...

Re: Sean Dyche's greatest moments
The proudest man in Proudsville with Burnley in the top 4. I started following Burnley when they were in the 4th division, not 4th place in the top division. This season under Kompany would not have been possible without Dyche. For giving the club a status and level of expectation. For pushing for t...

Surely the biggest connection between Stoke and Burnley is Tony Scholes...
Though quite why CT needs to waste his time running a small town team in the Potteries is beyond me.

My dad always used to say “you can’t have your cake and your ha’penny”
Obviously eating your cake wasn’t an option - you either had the cake or kept the money for it. That’s a very Burnley sentiment I think
