Re: Esteve
Part of the model has to account for relegation as greater possibility if you're buying for the future. You'd hope the contracts of these players reflect that. For most valuations to mature they'll need more than a season. Aye fully agree. Younger players won’t be on as big a wage either. Bigger ea...

67% pass accuracy, which, when most of his passes are 5 yarders, rather than defence splitting forward passes, isn’t good enough.

Story of our season really. Outdone in both boxes despite matching our opponent in the middle. Individual mistakes, unlucky with a VAR decision and sadly why we won’t stay up.

JBG has done very well for us over the years, but in the last few games he's started, he's looked like an OAP trying to get around the pitch. 433 with Forfana on the right. 3 defensive CMs and play direct. Created our equaliser against Fulham showing more guile than anyone else had in that position...

Well that's a speculative the amount of change was fine, it was just the wrong change. Obviously it's hard to tell but going from a team with 100+ points in the Championship to this position suggests that something is the problem. It's not unusual to see teams come up, do a massive overhaul and go ...

Re: Did we change too much or too little?
The amount of change has been absolutely fine, just a bit unbalanced and lacking physicality needed for this level (which we’ve clearly gone to rectify in Jan). If we had these 3 signings since the start we’d be over 20 points right now.

It’s rare for me to enter a football related thread on here, especially if it’s gone over 2 pages. The different transfer fees mentioned for Trafford vary. Trafford, saleable asset? Just because we paid around £19 million for him, doesn't mean anyone else would be daft enough. I'm also not entirely convinced about Trafford's marketability for a resale at profit. Young English keeper, very composed on the ball, ranking around mid-table vs other PL keepers by advanced shot stopping data metrics like PsxG. Got all the makings for marketability in my opinion. Think he’ll sta...

Re: REPORT: Last gasp goal wins unlikely point
The point of xg is that it attempts to record how likely you are to score from the shots that you had. If you don't have a shot, then xg is nil. So, for example, after Fulham were 2-0 up they had three or four more chances where they played a ball over the top and their forward ran free. I think on...

Re: REPORT: Last gasp goal wins unlikely point
Not on Understat it doesn’t. Fulham had higher xG in line with how the game went. And xG is distorted by the open goal Fofana had with his header which doesn’t really tell us the game’s flow. I’ve been praising us for much of the time since Everton but the last two home games have been very insipid...

How was our xG (useless stat, just like possession stat when you don't get out of your own half) higher than theirs when Trafford had to make more saves than their keeper? He only had 2 more shots to save. And you can’t really call xG useless if you don’t know how it’s used? It can’t be that useles...

I just don't get this xg crap Fulham should have buried us. VK made a massive balls up with his selection and tactics, fortunately we dug our way out of a self inflcted pit. It’s not really that hard to get. Fulham had 1.51 xG, we had 1.81. They had 15 shots to our 12. Hardly frightening amounts on...

That might have been the plan in his first transfer window but unless you missed something that’s not what happened last summer. First half was possibly the worst I've seen us play. We actually started the game well and were marginally the better team until their first goal. After that it was atrocious I agree. Ramsey is a player who floats around, finds bits of space and then will look to link play / finish in the final third.
