Reached the peak of our spending...
...now recruitment for the future is essential. I've been a regular critic of our transfer strategy over the past 6 windows or so, wishing for us either sign someone new and exciting, or to start signing a larger number of 'conveyor belt' players but I've been having a think and wonder whether this ...

Re: Burnley v Southampton - Player Ratings
Pope 7 - one excellent save from Redmond and a decent save from a corner near the end. Distribution a bit mixed but you could see that he saw the early distribution quite often. Hopefully as he gets his match sharpness back, he’ll increase in confidence distributing early. Lowton 7 - fine. Defensive...

£10m and Vydra for Phillips would be great business, though we’d need another striker and to get rid of Wells.
Long to Forest and Cahill on a free would be great business too.

Does make you wonder why though, if Hendrick hasn’t signed a new contract, we’re not trying to sell him this window to cash in on an asset and not lose him for anything. Plenty of speculation on Heaton but none on Hendrick.
Unless of course he’s about to sign a new deal, which would be great.

The fact that most teams are investing, paying the big fees and wages and we’re sticking to our structure? Not a criticism, it’s just more likely the longer it goes on. Sounds pretty straight forward and accurate to me.Spijed wrote:

At the start of the January that we signed Robbie Brady, I had been told by someone who is in the know (I don’t class myself as ‘in the know’ at all, but am friends with somebody who is, albeit I don’t get to meet him regularly) that we were in for him - and this had not yet been mooted anywhere. You can’t drop Williamson from that. He’s been brilliant. Agree with Jarrow, definitely a case for Roy. The impact he’s had on his team in the tournament can’t be overlooked.
