Can’t see city getting Grealish AND Kane. They’d be looking at £250m potentially… Like Grealish and they will still be superb but I do think they need a striker after losing Aguero…

Man City are probably the PL team that needs Grealish the least, but when you have infinite money, why not get him anyway.

I scored 4 goals for my 7 a side team last night. Those goals would be invaluable for a team who scores as few as Burnley. I don’t think we’ve had a player who’s scored 4 goals in a singe Premier League game.
News just in Riley, VAR has ruled your 2nd one out for a handball in the build up by 'Big Phil', the 3rd your toe was offside and your 4th for a shove at the bag post by 'Dodgy Dave' :D

Looking like Grealish is of to City, how can any team compete with them next season.
That's an issue for other clubs, we don't have to worry about competing with them

Anwar El-Ghazi available for £15m.
Decent price for a wide attacking player who got 10 goals last year. Can play both sides too.

Most people seem to struggle with Chris Wood (no S)

Not good for our goal difference though. Two 8-0 defeats to look forward to now!

With the cash they might come in for Dwight, £40m and they’ve still got a quid or two to get a few more…
That does worry me about this move, have to say. Hoping Villa string it out to rinse City & then have no time to buy players :D

Agree with others that this makes City very hard to beat and significantly weakens Villa. I’m a big Buendia fan and think he’ll do well there but not in the context of replacing Grealish.

10 goals from out wide last season, and didn't he miss quite a few chances v us too?
He was 1 goal every 3 games last season, and his overall record is better than 1 in 5, 44 goals in 202 appearances.

Absolutely not welcome here if he is an attacking wide player who scores goals.

They'll be a far cheaper, do a job, older work horse pro out there who is a far cheaper option.

I’m not convinced by this - the lad has played 22 competitive football matches in his entire career - all with the safety net of 10 CL winners around him every week - it’s a lot to ask for him to slot into a newly promoted PL team and be effective - we shall have to wait and see

He will slot in because of the way Norwich play football, mainly on the floor. Whether he shines as a "cut above" is the interesting bit but we all still would have him instead of Cork

So Gilmour walks into any side from 8th down and yet the ones who got him probably stand the best chance of coming 20th in the division.

Hmmmm wonder if it's because his club don't want him to play for a higher club and don't want him to strength a challenging club to his own ?? Where he probably lives it leaves Brighton, Southampton or Norwich to choose.

And more importantly theyll want him to play the maximum amount of premier league games as possible, at Norwich he probably has the best chance of that.
It's also a bonus they play, or at least try to, the "right way"
If he is a success, then the aim will be to get him in a solid mid table side.

Dyche will only work with certain players - this is no secret.

I, therefore, don't know why it's such a surprise when there are players that are moving which on paper look like a good fit for us. I would imagine if the player was identified as a good fit and they were deemed good value - we would be in for them.

We can't make mistakes and we can't afford for the team to have a feeling of disenfanchisment because there are players who don't care about the team or don't have the mental toughness that it takes to play for Dyche and Burnley. Our strength is as a group and is often that calmness and ability to work through tough patches that ultimately keeps us up at the end of the season.

Time to double down on corner or lose both targets. 🤦‍♂️ looks like waiting nipped us in the cheeks this time. There will be more players... just frustrating.

Albrighton would have been a good fit for us but he was another 30+ year old to be added to the oldest squad in the league. I'm not majorly disappointed.

It’s hardly surprising the intentions were always to strike up some sort of a deal to keep him at the king power, we displayed a interest if he became available but it wasn’t to be, it’s just 1 of them things, he didn’t use our interest he didn’t force us to become interested.

I also remember us all thinking we'd bagged Lansbury before a picture emerged of him with the Forest Chairman having just signed a new contract.

If we ever got to the point of discussing terms or making an offer, I’d be amazed.

probably as many as Vydra, Barnes and Jay combined that and in only 28 game. ( not checked but they didnt seem to be regulars on the scoresheet last season )

A few observations on stuff discussed in the last few days:

1. It's a pity Albrighton has signed a new deal; he would have been a good option for us, if on paper a relatively short term one. However,it is interesting to see he's signed a deal taking him to about 3 months of his 34th birthday. Whilst every player is different, that does suggest that Brendan Rodgers doesn't agree with the prevailing wisdom on here that players over the 30 should be presumed to have no more than about 18 months left before irreversible decline kicks in.

2. Alan Nixon clearly knows plenty, but he doesn't know everything (he didn't know Albrighton was signing a new deal today from what I can see), and in any event it's pretty obvious he uses what he does know to keep his followers hooked by maximising the dramatic value - at the end of the day he wants people clicking on his Sunday stories. In any event, I'm sure that when Nixon links us with someone, there's substance to it - but it doesn't mean he knows about every player we are chasing. Like any clubs we'll have our preferred targets and our plan B targets. We're clearly more fussy than many and Nixon is pretty clear about that, but I don't think that necessarily leads to all the conclusions that are drawn from his info.

3. If we are choosy though, that comes down (at least in part) to the manager. It seems very fashionable to load all the blame for us not signing players onto ALK now, just as it was onto Garlick before. I'm no apologist for ALK (I had plenty of questions about the takeover at the time and none have been answered) and I was no apologist for Garlick. But it's quite clear that Dyche isn't particularly flexible about targets, and that may be as big a deal as any financial constraints imposed by either regime. When Dyche says we can't afford any (or many) mistakes, he's obviously right, but it's probably truer for him personally than it is for Burnley. He's generally spent money well at Burnley, but if he spends some money on players that don't come off (more Ben Gibsons, if you like) then that will affect his reputation as much as it will affect the future of the football club and I can't help but wonder if that informs his stubbornness on signings. But something must give; if the club only has a certain budget (which might be perfectly reasonable - we're certainly being linked with some mid-market fees), and Dyche isn't really willing to operate within it, then that's something that will have to come to a head sooner rather than later because the club can't stand still. The rest of the summer will tell us a lot about whether that's the case or not.

The interest was definite but it had to be from a distance, you’ve technically got a player nearing the end of his contract whilst negotiating on an extension, so you are right when you say we never got to the point of discussing terms or making an offer because if we had we would have been breaching the rules any club would have had, the player was technically still under contract to LCFC.

Maybe we were, maybe we weren't, the fact remains we get named too many times as being interested in players who go on to sign better contracts where they are, a few mentioned above, and several others over recent times for it to be just coincidence

Couldn’t have put it any better myself. Absolutely in full agreement with your sentiment, although you may find that might not be the most popular opinion on here with some people.

A lot of our transfer woes come down to shopping in a narrow market after a very specific type of player. This approach appeared to be what soured the relationship with Dyche and Garlick.

Can’t really help what the media write though, can you? Somewhat out of our control unless we comment on every piece of fake news?!

I dare say Albrighton’s agent contacts us, asks if we’re interested if he becomes available, we say yes (who wouldn’t be?), agent tells press we’re keen as he’s negotiating the finer details of his contract, agent gets his way on the extras he’s trying to squeeze out of Liecester. Lovely job (for Albrighton, his agent & the press).

Don’t suppose it really hurts us for our real targets to think we might have irons in other fires, either though, really.

Everyone has targets its landed them and getting them signed we struggle badly with. And it's not just Burnley go to one of the biggest clubs in the world Man Utd - all fans were convinced Woodward was not particularly good at landing players.

When did we last buy a player who slotted straight into and improved our starting 11?

Talkbfc (Instagram) saying L’equipe are reporting we’ve bid £13m for Cornet. Is that old news? I can’t see any recent article on L’equipe.

You mean a club who have just spent over 100 million on 2 long term targets ?

Would love him here, plus if we gave him the no. 99 shirt. He would pay for himself in shirt sales

Ok, we can do that if you want. Erm, well, as I said, they’ve just signed Gallagher. Nixon says they’d like a few more too.

What would you like to say about them?

Sorry but I’m sick of reading that Gibson was a bad signing. He wasn’t. He was signed because Ben Mee was holding out and if Mee had left he would have done well for us. The fact that Mee got the deal he wanted and kept our two CBs together was not Gibson’s fault. His behaviour subsequently was poor but we have got our money back so let’s move on from him.
