Dystopian movies

Post by NRC » Sat May 28, 2022 6:13 pm

My family has banned me from picking a movie at family movie night, because I always lean in to dystopian movies. I can’t help it, they grip me. Bizarrely my 2nd favorite genre is musicals, but that’s for a different thread

What are you favorite dystopian movies? My top two are
1. The Road - watched it once, but never again. As a parent I can’t deal with the parent/child desperation
2. The Platform - what a stark, though amazing metaphor for society

Never heard of it, Spiral, and I think Clive Owen has stolen an acting career, but no mistaking the qualifications of Alfonso Cuaron though. I’ll have to give it a look and squint at it while Owen is in the shot

Honestly it's one of his better performances. His character is downtrodden and exhausted all the time (as you would be living in a dystopian London police state), which suits his style.

Hunger games trilogy (4 films so how can it be a Trilogy 🤔) 1 2 and 3(pt's 1 + 2) aren't bad watching

Good list there.

Personally, Akira is my favourite.
