Re: McNally
He looked pretty decent at Bournemouth.
No idea if it was right, but the SSN App had him lining up at right wing back.

Re: McNally
Great news.
Re: McNally
A massive step from League 1 to the Prem. I think most football fans know why we let him out on a loan.

He can do well!
Re: McNally
Their fans are hoping they can sign him next summer. One says £3m-£5m. I think he could be worth a lot more than that eventually. He started late for a footballer so is playing catch up. Looks like he will be a good one.

Re: McNally
I think it is good to see him get a full 90 minutes at Championship level and the fact the Coventry fans are raving about him in his first game , bodes well for him and Burnley, well played young man.

Re: McNally
I hope someone at the club is watching him-was this not the role of Charlie Adams. Otherwise the loan is a wasted exercise

Re: McNally
They seem really impressed according to their forum:
'Best debut by a Centre Back I have seen for the City in a long time. Won his headers, stood up to their attackers, knew where the space was to relieve pressure. Fingers crossed he carries in on in this vein.'

I knew he was a good snooker player, but thought he might be a bit old for footie

Re: McNally
Glad to hear McNally had an assured debut, however Coventry were playing a poor Huddersfield ream who will almost certainly be relegated.
What will benefit him is getting a regular run of matches at a decent standard.

Sorry mate but looking for negatives after one game is just not necessary. Just see it for what it is, his debut, one game, and he’s done well

Re: McNally
He is there to get match fit and experience at this level. He needs to be playing regularly so it’s good we have found the opportunity for him.
Important development time that is all. I don’t see this as a path to flogging him unless we get stupid offers.
If we are to take a business model of developing and profiting from buying well - the players can’t afford to sit not playing in prime development years.
I’m really pleased we are acting like a club that is demonstrating that it’s got a plan to deliver what they said they wanted to

I hope he does well, looked steady against Bournemouth and hasn't been given a fair chance.
From what I saw of Al-Dakhil yesterday I wouldn't say he was any better or anymore ready than McNally at all.

Re: McNally
I’m a bit out if touch in this. Where did we get him from and when or has he come up through the ranks with us.

Re: McNally
He's at Coventry because he can't get into our side as we now have four centre halves.
Come the summer, we will only have three (incuding McNally) so if he's brilliant at Coventry that is great news for us
And if we are looking to sell, then him doing really well at Coventry pushes his price up so we make money on the deal
Its a win/win for us

I’m going to trust the judgement of Vincent Kompany and his staff over you Bumba, no offence like.

None taken, wasn't giving a scouting report I was just calling it from what I'd seen after a game a piecearise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 9:30 amI’m going to trust the judgement of Vincent Kompany and his staff over you Bumba, no offence like.

Re: McNally
Signed McNally from Oxford in the summer for £1.5-2m, but due to either THB/Taylor or recently Beyer/THB forming such strong partnerships he's not been able to get a sniff of 1st team footy, a few appearances in the cup excepted where he's done well enough.

Re: McNally
Not looking for negatives at all merely pointing out he'll face sterner tests during his spell at Coventry. However a solid debut and a clean sheet is a steady start for him there I agree.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 8:06 amSorry mate but looking for negatives after one game is just not necessary. Re: McNally
I see a young talented Burnley player with potential, goes out on loan to gain 1st team experience in a Coventry side that plays good football.
By all accounts puts in a good performance.
Keeps a clean sheet.
Do Coventry play in a different league to us? Where else could he go to get a regular run of matches at a decent standard?
Maybe you ought to explain what you mean by decent standard tiger76 in case I'm misinterpreting your comment.

Blimey! some sensitivity on here regarding our players, I said he did well from what I've read, and Coventry is a good move for him and us.No Ney Never wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 11:54 amI see a young talented Burnley player with potential, goes out on loan to gain 1st team experience in a Coventry side that plays good football.

However I think must people would except Huddersfield aren't one of the better sides this season and are likely to be relegated, so thar puts the opposition into context.
Presently Coventry do play in the sane league as us, however we are likely to be a PL side soon, and I don't think I'm the only poster to question whether McNally is capable of making the steep step up from League 1 to the PL, clearly VK believes we need centre backs who can go straight into the first XI, hence the 2 new signings this month.
Now this doesn't mean McNally might not make the grade, and regular action at Coventry is ideal for him and Burnley if he's not going to feature this season.
The reality is given the sheer number of signings some will be a success and some won't, McNally may fall into the category of being good enough for the Championship if he continues to impress at Coventry, however our recent signings seem to be with more than one eye on the PL.
