Sheff Wed, Peterborough, Portsmouth & Bolton still to play in their run-in, a tough ask now.

Re: Barnsley v Sheff Weds
Gregory booked for a late challenge on the keeper, should be off by now with the kick out he did at the start of the game.

Re: Barnsley v Sheff Weds
Bannan's set pieces tonight have been on the money, so many chances created by his crossing but wasted by the finishing, Flint the main culprit.

What a match that was. Two teams who wouldn't be out of place in our league

Re: Barnsley v Sheff Weds
Barnsley needed to win, and they duly delivered.
League 1 is bonkers, Plymouth have now gone top following tonight's results, however they could even miss out on a top 2 place.
Duff might well be in demand if he maintains this level of results.
Meanwhile at the other end it's looking grim for Accy.

Re: Barnsley v Sheff Weds
Bobby Thomas had an excellent game
That 4th goal was madness
Sheff Wed committed 3 or 4 fouls in the build up and Barnsley defenders rampaging forward !!

Re: Barnsley v Sheff Weds
and Bobby Thomas was ok, could have done better with the first goal, really should have cut the cross out but that's why he's on loan to learn these things. He did plenty of good things too, I still wouldn't be surprised if we sold him this summer though

I think Barnsley have an option if they go upVegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 2:39 amand Bobby Thomas was ok, could have done better with the first goal, really should have cut the cross out but that's why he's on loan to learn these things. Re: Barnsley v Sheff Weds
Yes, enjoyable game and a likeable result.
Having got used to our playing standard both teams seemed uncoordinated, particularly Barnsley. Often when their players had the ball they didn't seem to know what to do with it or have any options. Wednesday at least had some pattern to their play. Barnsley's last ditch defending was impressive though.
What's happened to Aidan Flint? He used to be lethal in front of goal but couldn't seem to hit the proverbial barn door last night. There was a season at Bristol City (under Cotterill) when he scored 15. Just looked it up - Flint scored a hattrick in their final game - what a season they had:

As for the players with Burnley connections, I wasn't over impressed with any of them. Benson wasn't really on long enough, Phillips offered little despite the pre-match hype, and Thomas looked ordinary at this level (no blame for the goal. He was maybe a touch late appreciating the situation but so nearly intervened). Just one match of course.

Re: Barnsley v Sheff Weds
The main take from the game (apart from it being ridiculously enjoyable) is how much we'd take them apart in the championship if they played like that

Re: Barnsley v Sheff Weds
It was brilliant entertainment from beginning to end but that was the best. Wednesday were literally piling in to whoever had the ball, but always a second too late, leaving a trail of bodies before Barnsley scored anyway.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 10:06 pmThat 4th goal was madness

Duff mentioned it, although not explicitly.
