No worries, glad you enjoyed it! Certainly a bit different!

The Greasy Strangler sounds a bit different too - will add it to the list! :)

Get it on the surround sound, turn the subwoofer up. Enjoy!

I don't have a surround sound system or even a sound bar but I'm planning on getting that sorted soon. Heat and Dunkirk will be the first films I watch :D

Greasy Strangler is one of the oddest films I have seen in a long long time .... just random throughout.

Don't forget saving private Ryan... That was ungodly sound in 1998!

Last 4 movies i watched.....

Jigsaw - mutilation just for the sake of it.

Hellraiser Judgement - mutilation just for the sake of it.

American Assasin - decent movie but trying too hard to be like Kingsmen.

The Final Countdown 1980. - Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen get thrown back in time on a modern day fully loaded aircraft carrier and come face to face with the Japanese fleet steaming towards Pearl Harbour. What should they do? Let history repeat itself or change the future? Classic that knocks all the rest into a cocked hat

How strange. Was only thinking of hellraiser yesterday without ever having seen it. As a kid it was always in the video shop by my house and the cover terrified me. I never watched it and never knew what it was called. Just remembered the cover. When i watched the recend mad max i thought of the original and thinking of films from that era and that came to mind. Is the original worth watching, 30 years after i remember seeing it in shops?

Watched Jumanji on saturday with my nephew. Have to say dont usually watch that sort of film much but bloody loved it. Best film ive ever seen with the rock in (i know that doesnt say much) but a proper good fun film. Reminded me a bit of never ending story. Never seen the first jumani but didnt need to.

Watched mudbound last night. A bit heavy for that time of night but another recommended film. Similar in parts to 12 years a slave. Was gripped throughout.

Lion 10/10

True story of a 5 year old in rural India who falls asleep on an empty train and is unable to get off until it stops 1000 miles away in Calcutta.

Nobody recognises the name of his village, and it isn't on any map, so has no way of getting home.

The story is about his quest to try and locate his village 25 years later, using what little memories he has

Good film this. Middle bit gets a bit boring but overall a fantastic film. Made even better (or worse for that matter) that its true. The bit with his brother is horiffic. :cry:

I haven't read the whole thread, so apologies if it's already been mentioned, but Victoria (2015) is well worth watching. The whole film is just one, continuous take, which is pretty incredible. Good storyline. The acting and camera work is top drawer.

Over the last few weeks I've watched Lady Bird, Annihilation, Coco, The Shape of Water, and The Greatest Showman.

All very good in their own way.

Also watched Ponyo, Big Daddy and Zoolander, just because.

Finally got round to watching 3 Billboards last weekend. Thought it was one of the best film I have watched in years. Tarantinoesque with some of the characters / one liners with a hint of Fargo (the film).

Watched Tyrannosaur last night on Film 4 - seen it a couple of times already. Would recommend for anyone who has not seen it before.

Harrowing film. Really uncomfortable but very powerful.

Once, when I was playing Sunday League in Leeds, I got lost in an estate looking for an away pitch. I stopped to ask in a shop, and then realised where I'd parked.

They were actually a really soft team, we beat them comfortably. There was a bit of a holdup when some scratters drove their RC car onto the pitch though!

I did come across some double hard ba5tards playing over there, jesus. My team had an amateur boxer signed on, and we'd bring him along if we were playing the rough teams. Trouble is he was pure sh*te at football.

Ready Player One is well worth a watch, even if it's only to see all the things from your childhood if you're my age or so, late 30's.

So many things in there that just make you grin when you see them.

My Feral Heart - about a fellow with learning difficulties and his meeting various situations:

Lebanon - an Israeli film set inside a tank:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1483831/?ref_=nv_sr_1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Reader - an odd love story involving a WW2 possible war criminal:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0976051/?ref_=nv_sr_1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Alone in Berlin, Sophie Scholl, and Rosenstrasse - both covering some minor German resistance in WW2:

The King's Choice:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4353996/?ref_=nv_sr_1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sample - the sinking of Blucher:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ79i11JSnU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

WW2, April 1940, invasion of Norway by the Germans and how the Norwegian government and King tried to deal with it.

It's a superb film in every way - a little known (to us in the UK) WW2 episode, excellent computer graphics where needed, top notch acting, and pretty historically accurate.

Le Trou (The Hole) - a French film about criminal prisoners trying to escape. This is surely the best escape film you are likely to see:

I saw The man from earth at the weekend
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0756683/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; An impromptu goodbye party for Professor John Oldman becomes a mysterious interrogation after the retiring scholar reveals to his colleagues he has a longer and stranger past than they can imagine.

A thought provoking excellent film alot better than I thought it would be well woth a watch.

Watched Planes, Trains and Automobiles (for about the tenth time last night). Such a superb film, John Candy must be one of the all time great comedy actors.

Also saw 10 Cloverfield Lane on Saturday, an okay film, probably better than I'd anticipated.

Underwhelmed by Dunkirk - was expecting it to be better.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles is in my top 3 comedy films ever.

I saw John Candy in person many years ago - he was on the touchline at a Canadian Football game for the Toronto team (Argos ?) - he was one of the owners I think....big man...but brilliant actor as you say. Steve Martin was not too shabby either - love him in Man with Two Brains.

Lost in London (Live)

Woody Harleson plays himself and follows his antics after finishing a theatre performance. It is weird but grew on me and has some really funny moments in it.

Finally got round to watching Three Billboards and Red Sparrow recently.

Three Billboards was enjoyable, but a lot of old ******** really. Out-Coened the Coens, and that's not a good thing in my book.

Red Sparrow was average. Very convoluted. JL looked spot on though.
