Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
Wow he really, really wasn't wanted or part of Mr Dyche's plans.
I hope there is some sort of sell on fee, it would be just like us to let him go for nothing, and him bag 25 before making a 8m move to someone else.
Usually it is a nominal fee, cant believe he couldn't or wouldn't have gone to the championship or league 1 for a couple of hundred grand.
Took a very big hit on him regards to fee and wages.

Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
I think he wanted to go back to Germany. He'd settled in at Fortuna but, as was reported a while ago, they couldn't afford a fee for him. It's probably best to let him leave for nothing than keep hold of a player who is not required.
Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
Yes totally understand that, we have done the best thing for all parties.
Just hope there's a bit more to it than us tearing up his contract.

Surely worth £1m in this day and age.
We have lost at that but better than nothing.

Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
He clearly had a good touch but for English football he lacked pace and strength and wasn't good in the air. There were times when I thought he might prove to be a good signing but overall he was never going to get a starting place ahead of the strikers we had.Right_winger wrote:Never given a chance with us at all.at least it's for the best for all parties.

Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
The club who wanted him couldn't afford to pay that and, you can only assume, there were no other takers. Had we kept him there would have been a wage to pay next season and so probably works out cheaper to let him leave on a free.Woodleyclaret wrote:Surely worth £1m in this day and age.

He played well at Middlesbrough but the highlight is probably his goal at Cardiff which led to the late rescue actsimonclaret wrote:Goal at Middlesbrough the highlight?
Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
According to a Bundesliga fan on twitter he paid his own way out of Burnley to force the move. Could be absolute codswallop but he can translate the articles a lot better than I can

Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
All I know was that he wasn't keen to come back and was equally as keen to stay with Fortuna. They couldn't afford the transfer fee we first asked for. Other than that, I don't know, but he was certainly very keen to stay where he was.MarkGreen wrote:According to a Bundesliga fan on twitter he paid his own way out of Burnley to force the move. Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
The quality of the German second tier must come into question after this, as he'd been prolific in his last season before he joined us.
Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
It would be nice to think that we may have 1st dibs for any gems they may unturn in the future!

Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
Wish him well, don't think we ever saw the best of him in his brief spell with us. My main concern is its yet another failure from outside this country. Our foreign scouting seem to be lacking somewhat, Defour has had his problems settling in for whatever reason, be it injuries or a clash of personalities with SD, Hennings never really got anywhere close to the first 11. So we have to do our shopping at home which we all know inflates the prices.

No we don't have to do our shopping at home.
All clubs who regularly shop abroad will also pick up the odd dud.
This includes the top 6 from last season.
Veron, Shevchenko, Taibi, Prunier, Soldado just to name a handful off the top of my head.

Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
Defour is clearly a good player and has provided some moments of exceptional brilliance. Hennings really never threatened to be anywhere near good enough for all the delusion (because we wanted to believe it) that he could be a Gerd Muller replica with a cannon of a left foot. Wish him well back in Germany.

He may or may not have cut it with us in the championship but he never got a run in the team so we will never know.

Thanks Rouwen another fan here the goal at Boro in the Cup was a big turning point in that season that gave a bit of self belief and we never looked back after that all the best

Re: ARTICLE: Hennings in Bundesliga 2 return
It's all opinions of course, but I liked Hennings. I thought his touch was the best from a Burnley striker since Steven Fletcher, who seems to have velcro boots on. His pace was the major let down, but I think, given time and opportunity, he'd have done okay. We just had better players overall.
