As in anything in life, this is budget dependant I guess. I am a big fan of Etymotic in-ear phones.
Been using ER6i for nigh on 10-years - fabulous things ....... pity they're not in their range any more.
That said, their ER4 are critically acclaimed

After having good Sennheisers for a few years I made a switch to Cambridge Audio SE1 headphones, and they're a step above.

Still got Sennheiser passive ones for home though, through a good amp.

I would like a pair that insert so well they aren't disturbed when I put my bike helmet on.

Couldn't give you any recommendation regards to in ear phones. However I've always been impressed with Audio Technica over ear cans. Surprisingly also like the Beats Solo 3 wireless, especially for comfort and sound doesn't break up.

My opinion changes depending if they are going to be used as ear phones, or a fashion accessory for ones neck.

Soundmagic E50 absolutely brilliant, solid, comfortable and great sound. Perfect for under helmets as they are neat and wire comes out the bottom so doesn't catch anything.

£65 earphones but can get refurbed here for £35 which I did and they are mint, just like new.

Soundmagic E80 are next model up which are noise isolating but wire comes out of the end and not as good under helmets but can be had for same price refurbed.
