I cannot find the answer to this anywhere and didn't make the game yesterday.

Do you know why Durham were deducted four points in the t20 game against Lancs?

ty - the points were not deducted in Friday's game against Lancashire, though the way they played they possibly should!
The points were deducted as part of the penalty imposed last year by the ECB for the state of the finances. 48 points deducted in the championship and a few in all the other 1 day competitions. A draconian penalty in the minds of many, not just us grumpy old men at the Riverside.

A 4 point penalty in the T20 and a 2 point penalty in the One Day Cup were imposed on Durham for season 2017 along with penalties and relegation in 2016.

Cheers for that - I hadn't realised that the points deduction was still in place this season
