Mark Hughes after match interview

Post by happyclaret17 » Tue Dec 12, 2017 10:37 pm

nice to see he took it well and wasn't at all bitter.
I am sure we would all like to wish him all the best for the rest of the season.

If it was anything like his 909 interview I guess it was more than a little bitter. He said something about wanting more from the refs on 909. What exactly does that mean? If anything the ref was very lenient towards Crouch tonight; I lost count of the number of times he threw his arm across either Long or Tarky.

Good to see this bloke hasn't de-spotted.
He's still a moaning, whinger.
And probably now under even greater pressure to see he'll still be employed come New Year....!

Didn't see too much wrong with that, a draw wouldn't have been an unfair result for either team. They probably didn't 'deserve' to lose and didn't deserve to win either. If ever there was a one goal in it game that was probably it.

What a pile of shite that was.
They set their stall out lumping the ball up to Crouch directly from the kick off.
Unfortunately we played more than our share of long balls up to Wood.
But for him to suggest he knew what expect and we rely on percentages is an insult and he's clearly not seen our other goals this season.
Tosser!

they defitely didnt deserve to lose....that isn't the point though is it.....what about complementing us on our hard work and only conceding 3 goals all season in the league at home....that is some record that....utc.

Yeah coz they were the real footballing side he expected to turn; slick passing, lots of movement and opening us up for chances ala Arsenal. Think you need to get back on the training field if you thought that was good from yous; crouch, diouf, FLETCHER, Shawcross; past it the lot of em.

Classless two hat. Okay we were not at our best tonight but to say we have been lucky so far stinks of desperation. Long ball? He started with Crouch YES! He will almost certainly always be a barsteward

On the goal: "Another long ball goes into our box and it drops fortunately for the lad. It's hard to take. I'm pleased with what we produced." Oh yeah...

The ref comment was standard Hughes, its very hard to disagree with the rest though as if ever a game deserved to end 0-0 and be last on Match of the Day, it was this one.

Stoke fans join the list of those spoiled by prem football, inc Rovers fans in the past, who now have ideas above their station. It usually ends in relegation.

We deserved to win,Dyche brought two forwards on when they were flagging which changed the game.

Just another of a long line of people who don't realise that goals are more than a side effect of football - they're integral. Certainly if we hadn't scored we couldn't have claimed that we had the chances; but as we did score, and as Hughes points out, Barnes' clever chest to Arfield was match by a very clever touch back to Barnes (I presume that's what he means by "it fell to him in the box") and we scored; they didn't. Unlucky is when the ref misses something obvious or the ball bounces in off a divot. Unlucky isn't when the other side scores a good goal and you don't challenge the opposition goalkeeper.

We went for the win granted and I'm chuffed to bits we got it, but I can see where he is coming from!

I agree that they certainly didn't deserve to win it and appeared to make no effort to win it from about half way through the second half.

"You know what to expect when you play Burnley".

Yes, you sure do - you and 8 others - to go home pointless. On the other hand Mr Hughes teams don't know what to expect from your team - 7-1, 5-0 or simply a 1-0 win.

Hope Hughes now realizes that Sean did give them a lot of credit in his post match interviews and as usual conducted himself with a bit of class, something that Hughes clearly lacks.

Can understand his disappointment as a draw wouldn't have been an unfair result however..

to suggest we were lucky to score and further imply we are just a long ball team on a run of good fortune ( bit ironic when they spent the night lumping it up to Peter Crouch) shows a complete lack of respect for a team that is 4th in the PL on merit.

It wasn’t the conditions for fannying around with the ball it was an attritional battle to the wire which we won, But if it had have been a night for knocking it about we would have beat them at that as well I have absolutely no doubt.

Whilst knob'eds like Hughes continue to think that little ol' Burnley are only a long ball team and one dimensional the better it is for us to exploit them by playing the way we do. Let them keep turning up with a game plan to combat our long balls and then get stuffed by our footballing prowess

A total arse. One of them managers who very rarely gives the opposition any credit.
Might have said how good city were when they panned them but other than that usually now't.

He was just papering over the cracks.

The best team won on the night and by that I mean the team with the winning mentality.

As the last 15 minutes wore away Stoke were content with a point and considered it a huge achievement. We, on the other hand, were still looking for three points. The body language of the two teams in the latter stages said it all.

As for the goal, if Shawcross had played the ball rather than being intent on taking Vokes out then Barnes would never have got the ball

I don't think anyone disagrees with that, you can understand the frustration, but why spit your dummy and sulk about it. These things have been happening in football since 1888, you just suck it up and pick out the positives.....

Unless your names Mark Hughes of course. Prick.

So according to Hughes we are lucky to get to 31 points from 17 games Stoke are unlucky to only have 13 points from the same amount of games.

He said before the game we have been lucky with injuries. I’d love him to explain then how we’ve comfortably kept a clean sheet against his charges when from the 38th minute last night we'd 4 of our preferred back 5 missing? Complete knob totally unaware of his own incapabilities !!!

Guess Hughes has to deflect from his mistake in taking off Shaqiri and settling for the draw.
