Pickford is nowhere near ready for an international tournament.

I wish they'd give more of those type of pens, Sid, defenders constantly holding forwards at corners has become a feature of the game, and no doubt admired as skilled defending.Sidney1st wrote:I'm shocked, they just said it wasn't a pen on bbc 1...

Re: Liverpool v Everton
Just watched the highlights and Danny Murphy (who is a very good pundit), commenting on an Everton fan jumping up and down holding crutches said "he`s not gonna get his benefit this week, is he? They just caught him."
Funny, but if a non-Scouser said that, there would be trouble.

Re: Liverpool v Everton
Someone on another thread was justifying his 25mill price tag and rubbishing the idea that Pope, if he was to be sold, would bring a similar amount of money. I for one think Pope is EASILY worth that in today`s climate. Depends on his contract situation, I suppose.boatshed bill wrote:Pickford is nowhere near ready for an international tournament.

Holgate said 'he called me a n*****r' - from my amateur lip readingLowbankclaret wrote:Reading Holgates lips, I think he was enraged at what Firmino said.
I think he was saying “did you hear what he just said”
So maybe the ref thought the push and what was said meant they both had to go so left it at nothing.

Re: Liverpool v Everton
He was inches from the refs face, how could he not have heard it if that was the case?
Re: Liverpool v Everton
Yet another ridiculous penalty that decides the result of a game. I think the ref realised how soft the penalty was and had some sympathy for Holgate when he pushed Firmino into the stands. Has to be a three match ban for Holgate but Lallana will get away with his theatrics to win the penalty. Something has to be done about these penalties, they really are becoming the scourge of football and ruining the game.

Good to see Shearers's conversion from leader of the "there was contact so he had a right to go down" club, to "it's a contact sport and it's getting ridiculous" in the space of a few weeks. Maybe the tide is finally turning.Sidney1st wrote:I'm shocked, they just said it wasn't a pen on bbc 1...

Re: Liverpool v Everton
Talking to a referee friend of mine last night.
We both felt it was a penalty. We thought yellow for the shove on firmino and straight red for the man handlimg of the referee.
The beauty of football its all about opinions

Agree,clear penalty for me
If Barnes had been caught like that today we all would have been fuming if no penalty given
Shirt pulling has to be stopped
It is all about opinions though

Obviously it depends what contact is made..... I thought that was pretty obvious.SussexDon1inIreland wrote:Alan Shearer saying it was never a penalty because its OK to 'contact' the player its a contact sport except when we have penalties conceded they all sit there and say 'well there was contact'
Re: Liverpool v Everton
Modern football is s**t though, stop and start no consistency, barely any passion from the foreigners. I miss the Keane v Vieira days (probably considered modern to some but I was born in the early 90s), where as a neutral fan you felt like it just meant something. You knew every time they faced each other, they were both doing everything to win. I remember when Ruud missed that penalty and the Arsenal players buzzed around him like flies on s**t. I enjoy two players going 100% into tackles, a back and forward game, non of this stop and start crap because one of the players broke a nail.
