Stewart Lee - BBC2 Tonight
I've noticed there are a few fellow fans of his on here, so just a heads up that his tour, recorded in April this year is on tonight at 10.45pm.

Turned over and saw a bit of his show, when he started slagging people who voted for brexit and calling us c**ts that was enough for me.

You've not understood the joke. Probably because you would prefer to take things personally rather than even try to understand why he was calling Brexit voters '*****'. But also possibly because you didn't watch more than "a bit".Cocker Claret wrote:Turned over and saw a bit of his show, when he started slagging people who voted for brexit and calling us c**ts that was enough for me.

One meaning of this show was about how we only allow our own already established views into our world and how this can lead you too extreme positions, (like thinking everyone that voted to leave are "C##ts" or say that judges that are only doing their job are "enemies of the people".)Cocker Claret wrote:Turned over and saw a bit of his show, when he started slagging people who voted for brexit and calling us c**ts that was enough for me.
TL/DR: Dont worry, he does a joke about Corbyn later on.
Now, where did I put my spiraliser?

Interesting to look at some of the names commenting and wondering what happened to them (apart from Exploding Tortoise of course )

Stewart Lee is an acquired taste. Here's his ScoobyDoo routine from a few years back.

He's a comedy genius - saw his show in Bradford last year. Got tickets for the Lowry.
He might be a bit too lefty for many folks on here.

Think a fair lump of this forum is a bit more Jim Davison than Stewart Lee tbh.Hbclaret007 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 3:40 pmHe's a comedy genius - saw his show in Bradford last year. Got tickets for the Lowry.

Re: Stewart Lee - BBC2 Tonight
Well, everyone is different I suppose and we can’t all like the same thing. He may well be funny, but when a comedian is talking, I don’t expect to get 1:30 in and still be wondering when the funny bits are coming. There was laughter from the audience, but I’m sat here wondering why…mikeS wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 1:28 pmStewart Lee is an acquired taste. Here's his ScoobyDoo routine from a few years back.

I absolutely love his comedy, but i also completely understand this take. It's so long ago but i probably had this view the first dozen times i tried to watch him). It's a type of comedy that's very different to the observational comedy you'll more often be used to.bobinho wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 5:56 pmWell, everyone is different I suppose and we can’t all like the same thing. I’m there. My Daughters got us all tickets for my birthday. The joke is them going because they really can’t stand him. Giggling already.

Seeing him at the Lowry in a few weeks. Will be the sixth time I’ve seen him in various venues. Guy’s an absolute master.

Another one here who doesn't really get him, but in my defence I'm much more comfortable with the observation comedy
Really do need to give watching him another go because the odd clip online I see of him it is very good

Re: Stewart Lee - BBC2 Tonight
Saw him in 2016 when he took a random slot at the Tattershall Castle, a small pub boat on the Thames, can't have more than a couple hundred people. We were 2nd row, couple of meters away. Old school mic in front of black curtain club, he tried some new material, which later appeared in the next tour. Brilliant stuff, the most memorable being the quite violent threats he made against our families and us if he saw anyone filming it on their phone

Re: Stewart Lee - BBC2 Tonight
Thought he was brilliant at the Lowry Theatre last night. The way he constructs everything is sensational to watch. Saying that, I thought it was his loosest show in quite a while - contained actual jokes(!), audience interaction(!) and no real over-arching theme as per. Loved the disdainful Fleabag bit and the extension from that.
