I think I read that metro from Airport to the centre costs 10 Euros each way. Can anyone confirm this to be true because if it is then a 3 day pass ,even if not staying 3 days, seems the way forward.Alecbfc wrote:I’ve just used the metro to get to the centre, quite busy, takes 45 mins to get from airport to monastiraki station. Station for the ticket collection and the meeting point in on the same line. €22 for a 3 day tourist card that gives you access all areas including buses and trains (I think)
Pretty much like the London tube to use.

Re: Athens
I read the same. 6 euros for the bus. If you're going right into the centre syntagma square area from the airport then the bus ends there as well as the metro. If you're money conscious and don't use the metro whilst there then you can save a tenner using the bus, which also run 24 hours a day

Be aware that the metro closes around midnight as I've just found out after an hour and a half walk back to hotel from James Joyce. Good job I'd had a few to numb the pain from my flip flops

Plenty of Clarets drinking in the bars next to the hotel ticket collection.
Re: Athens
Took the metro down to the stadium. Omonia to Faliro... 15 mins. Excellent.
The station is adjacent to the stadium with walkway from one to the other.
Brilliant!
