Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
Such a tough one.
Based on skill alone - Blake & Ings
Best partnership - Ings & Vokes
Best in Premier League - Barnes & Wood
Pure goal scoring - Austin & Gray
Arrgghh!! That's me not doing any more work today, cheers Tony

Think this one will be the toughest choice of all

I've gone for who got me out of my seat more, so it's Blake and Ings.

Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
That's an impressive list. However the top 2 are obvious. Ings for his class and Ash for his fight and no little skill imo.
That team is full of true clarets. I make it 7 England internationals not sble to get a place.
Edit 8 forgot Nugent.

Blake started 20 games during this period and scored twice - as much as I loved Robbie, no way would I vote for him for this decade.

Ings and Austin for me. No sentiment, they’re just the best we’ve had.

Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
Vokes certainly - he played a massive part in both promotion seasons and a decent record in the top division too in the first season back, and he seems like good bloke too.
I'm going to have to mull the others over - Barnes is my current favourite Burnley player, Austin is the best goal scorer I've ever seen and Ings played a huge role in the unexpected runner up season (my favourite ever season as a Burnley fan, to be honest).

Very tough one this. Could easily have gone for any 2 out of 6 of them. Plumped for Barnes & Ings, but notable mentions to Vokes, Gray, Wood & Austin. Lot of affection for Blake & JayRod too. bloody hell we've been spoilt!

Ings and Gray for doing what forwards do best...score goals. Many will not agree with my choice of Gray with regard to his ball skills, but he certainly knew where the goals were and that is what matters.

Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
Tough choice.
Barnes is our highest top flight scorer in over 40 years so for that reason alone has to be in, even without the need to include everything else he offers.
Austin was a brilliant goalscorer but only played in the 2nd tier for us; Gray’s goals got us promoted and helped to keep us up; Vokes was brilliant with Ings and never let us down; Wood has a good scoring record in the top flight.
But I think Ings edges it for his all-round ability in addition to his goals.
No idea who will win out in the vote but the choices really do show how spoilt we’ve been for forwards.

Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
After MUCH deliberation, In the end I went for Austin and Blake.
Austin on the ball in the box had me out of my seat all the time. He just had that knack of knowing where the ball was gonna go and where he should be and where the net was.
Blake because he was just a superb superb forward player.
Shame that some are gonna miss out... vokesy, ings, Barnes all deserve a mention, as does fletcher who had the best first touch I can remember of anyone.

Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
Tough one to vote. My first choice was always going to Barnes and I’ve gone with Ings.
Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
Some very good players listed but didn't hesitate for a moment picking Ings and Barnes.
Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
Barnes for a certainty, because he has been a consistent player and scorer in the Premier League for longer than any other. Second place I went for Wood simply on two seasons of Premier League goals; Ings only had one season and was no more productive. Though perhaps it was a harder season to score in. It was a tough one. I ruled out Rodriguez and Austin because I don't think either ever played for us in the Premier.
Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
No brainer for me...
Ashley Barnes for his passion and Danny Ings for .... hmmmm just being Danny Ings

Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
This was seriously hard.
Barnes is my favourite player in our current squad and it hurts me to leave him out, but I've plumped for Ings and Vokes. For me I can't think of one without the other - they seemed to have a telepathic understanding of where the other was at all times and were always assisting the goals of the other. Vokes will always be a huge player for me. From being something of a reject at Wolves to being a regular goalscorer for us in a promotion season shows a player who took his chance big time when he got it. Scored a few for his country too.

Juke on the list but no Hennings?
Barnes and Ings for me in any case
I, personally, will be staggered if Barnes doesn't make the top two - in my opinion he's the best striker we've had of all of them for many, many reasons: value for money
loyalty
goals
entertainment
passion
commitment
bouncebackability

Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
Extremely tough choice! That's quite a list of forwards...
I've gone Rodriguez and Ings. Rodriguez was easily our best player and carried the team at times during his last season with us and Ings was incredible the season we went up and seemed to have everything.
So tough to leave out Austin, Barnes, Vokes, Gray or Blake though.

Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
I went for Blake and Barnes.
Very, very tough positions to choose. Oddly, the player I was closest to picking instead of Barnes was Austin rather than Ings/Vokes and Gray who got us promoted and did well in the Premier League.
I just could not leave out Robbie, and Barnes has been so good for us since we came up.

Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
I think the forwards need a goal caveat - Robbie Blake is my favourite ever player but he shouldn't be anywhere near the top of this list for contributions over the past ten years. Similarly it'd stop bogus votes for Juke et al if there was, say, a 10 goal caveat.
Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
Gone for who could put the ball in the net regularly, in every way possible, and who I'd want on the end if we only got 1 chance in a game.
Ings and Austin, with the latter being the most deadliest I think I've seen in my time watching Burnley.

Re: ARTICLE: Two forwards needed to complete the team
Barnes and big Sam for me.
There is no doubt that these 2 aren’t the most talented in the list. However, over the last 10 years they have definitely given more to the club than the others.
If you had to place your mortgage on someone finishing a chance then it would probably be something like:
Austin
Ings/Wood
Blake
before Ash and Sam

It would be interesting to see the goals/minutes ratios for each player in both the Premier League and the Championship - I know some only played in the Championship and that others only played in the Prem...

As easy as voting for the right back slot for me.
One is the best footballing forward we've had in the last 10 years, and the other, well, you just can't describe Ashley Barnes.

Blake has almost twice as many votes as Austin. Almost 5x Andre Gray. I love Robbie Blake, but in the last decade for this club, how can you say he was a better player than those two ffs??

I went for Ings and Vokes.
Ings was just too good to leave out.
And Vokes epitomises the attitude that got us to where we are. Someone who made the most of their talent, and loyally did their job, no matter what, on and off the field. If more footballers acted like Sam Vokes, Saturday afternoons would be much more enjoyable.
I do understand the votes for Barnes though.

They effectively fired us to promotion in Sean's first full season, when many pundits, and many fans on this forum thought we were destined for a relegation battle, hands up i was one of them.
Danny then hit double figures in the PL,including a wonderful display at OT,when on another night he'd have bagged more than once.
Vokes is underrated in my view,he made double figures in the PL (2016-17),and nabbed a double at Stamford Bridge in that memorable triumph the opening day of the following season.
And in addition he scored our 1st European goal in over 50 years.
Both have also suffered major injuries and managed to get back to a good level and prolong their playing careers, when it was feared they might never recover.

Steven Fletcher with only 4 votes but I feel in his prime, working under Dyche, he would have been a class player.

Blake for the memories and excitement but couldn't vote for him on the basis of one goal.
Voted for Ings for his contribution to us getting in the Prem, and Barnes because he's nuts and only seems to score worldies.
Felt like a traitor not voting for Sam though
