True, there could be multiple ways his laces left an imprint on his head.
I for one look forward to hearing them.
Kneeling on somebody.

Having a fit next to somebody's boot.

There are indeed numerous ways to achieve a boot imprint.

Of course, some are more dubious or less likely than others but perhaps you're misunderstanding my point.

My point being - let's wait for the verdict, eh?

True, his laces could have been on his knee not his footwear.

There’s nothing immediately wrong with the taser being energised for 33 seconds. Of course, it will have to be explained, but it depends how the taser has been deployed, the subjects response to being tasered and how that 33 seconds is broken down.

First of all, there is the red dot challenge. 90% of red dot challenges have the desired effect, and the subject surrenders.

So, the 10% of the time, is when the subject hasn’t obeyed instruction or the officer doesn’t feel there is sufficient time to give a red dot challenge as the subject is coming at them, or members of the public.

If a subject is tasered, the cycle lasts for 5 seconds. You then give aftercare. The next step is to get the subject into a position of control. So ideally on their knees or front, hands on head ready for handcuffing.

If a subject continues to disobey instruction and either keeps going for a knife or offering violence, then the taser can be re-energised at any point. There is a button on the side of the taser that can be pressed to re-energise the taser. How long is down to the officers discretion.

If a subject is plainly not obeying, and continuing to offer violence, then the officer will shout ‘detention under power’, and the officers with him will know that they need to get in there, get handcuffs on, whilst the subject is being tasered, so long as they don’t put their hands between the probes.

So it’s conceivable that someone can be tasered for a total of 33 seconds, broken down into parts.

I don’t know enough about the case to know how Atkinson was acting, and I’m not insinuating he was disobeying, but for a taser to be discharged in the first incident would suggest there is an element of not complying with instruction and still posing a risk. This can obviously be because someone is unwell, and not understanding instruction, but ultimately, that person still needs to be controlled.

Atkinson being kicked in the head will certainly require an explanation. You just don’t do it. And you are never trained to do so.

"If you don't like the verdict, you could at least wait until it's been delivered to decide the fact."

Well, we won't know until it's been delivered whether we like it or not, will we ? I would imagine that it's odds on the accused officer, guilty or not, will be declared innocent irrespective of the events and the evidence presented.
Whichever way it goes, I hope the trial is a fair and honest one.

Not saying its the case here, but, reasonable force can be anything from a slight slap, to shooting someone dead, and anything in between, so wait till you've heard all the evidence, then decide if what you describe was reasonable force in that situation

The trial will simply show whether or not we're any better a society than the yanks.

Genuine question.

Have read the news about this case today but am a bit puzzled as to why it hasn’t generated BLM protests like the Floyd case? Especially with Atkinson being a well known ex Premier League footballer.

I’m not particularly interested in discussing whether it should or shouldn’t. I just want to understand why it hasn’t.

Perhaps because nobody filmed it and it's only now - so many years on - that the full alleged details are finally being allowed to be disclosed.

Probably due to it being five years ago and what was released at the time was significantly different to what is now being said in court.

There were smaller scale protests at the time but they were mainly centred how much more likely you are to be tasered if you are black.

I don't think the UK has a big problem with the Police Murdering suspects in this country.

On the subject of protesting. Why has there not been an outcry after the female officer was killed recently who was walking her dogs?

Too say how big the protests were for the lady murdered when walking home?

An outcry for what exactly? Unfortunately women (and men) get murdered constantly so people used to it.

There were plans to hold vigils but the womans family asked people not to gather and instead light a candle which people did.

There was outrage at the time, but it was viewed as ignorance of mental illness that led to it rather than race related. Dalian had been struggling for some time before the incident at his fathers.

I await the verdict with interest, but do not think people taking sides without the facts helps no one and creates nothing but negativity and division. Let the courts attempt to do their job.

Absolutely. Still, if the cop's girlfriend - there on duty with him - is also found guilty, justice, somewhat miraculously, will seem to have been done.
I just hope the cowardly, lying bastards get the treatment they deserve from their future prison "colleagues".

It won't happen, jailed police officers don't tend to mix with the general population in a prison.

True, straight in with the nonces I don’t even think it’s optional whether you like it or not, you go where you are allocated for your own protection & to make life easier for the officers, it’d be a bloodbath otherwise with nonces & ex police mixing with others.

Not violence or lynching just making every day horrible for them although I'm sure there'll be plenty of "donors" for any back doors that need smashing in. :o

Finally the family can get a semblance of peace.

No excuse for kicking someone in the head when they are on the floor.
