Bentaleb
Looks like he is off to Newcastle on loan. Been injured this season but would be a fantastic signing for them If he is now fit.
Definitely players out there.

Millwall look good at the minute.
Re: Bentaleb
Been dropped to the reserve side twice in recent times, according to the papers.
From what I remember of him at Spurs, with him being a technically able midfielder with a strong physical presence, I'd like him. But there may be questions over his attitude and/ or application.

Yep that’s his style. And still only 25 could be a gamble worth taking especially on loan.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 6:03 pmBeen dropped to the reserve side twice in recent times, according to the papers.

He has had an injury and fell out with the manager since. But has been a crucial player for schalke last season.

I go to all the games, so by your reasoning I am more than entitled to my opinion which in this case is to call out yet another (no matter how thinly veiled it may be) dig at the club - and that’s what it is - because we aren’t interested in yet another player that is suddenly available.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 9:51 pmCC goes to all the games, he is more than entitled to his opinion and most are positive imho. We have explained our transfer policy, constantly challenging it helps no one. Certainly doesn’t help the atmosphere either on here or on the ground... negativity is poison and it spreads like a wildfire, and I’m tired of reading it AND hearing it. If people are leaving the board, it won’t be because people AREN’T knocking the club for doing things “our way”, it will be for other reasons. Whether you like it or not, I see that as “fair enough”.
Anyway, I wasn’t intending this to degrade into a slanging match, so I’ll leave it there and try my best to enjoy what we have at the moment, whilst remembering how and why we find ourselves in this wonderful position.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion (with which I agree with most of), however I see no difference in a person calling out the club based on their perceived view to you calling out that person based on your perceived view. Also no interest in a slanging matchbobinho wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 6:47 amI go to all the games, so by your reasoning I am more than entitled to my opinion which in this case is to call out yet another (no matter how thinly veiled it may be) dig at the club - and that’s what it is - because we aren’t interested in yet another player that is suddenly available.

I learnt from an early age that when women live together they all end up in sync with each other’s cycle. For 1 week a month, Baghdad would have been a safer place to live.

You wrote “Definitely players out there.”
I finished your sentence with “so why aren’t we linked with this type of player?”
Not my intention to start a barney, but what with all the negativity recently, it looks like I misconstrued your remark and answered a question you never asked.
My apologies CFC.

The reason people are leaving, if they are, is because every half decent thread degenerates into a slanging match between a couple of posters. Not always the same ones but generally from small cadre of posters that think belligerence and denigration is the best way to prove their point

Re: Bentaleb
I don't know much about him apart from the fact he had spells at both Newcastle and Spurs, however if he's available on a free we could do a lot worse for midfield options, wages could be a problem though as is often the case.
At least it's a promising sign that we're actually being linked to players for a change, now of course whether we manage to get any potential deals over the line will be the crux of the matter for our new board.

His wages are apparently over £80k a week.
Yes there's player's out there that will fit within our wage structure, but he was never going to be one of them unfortunately.

Re: Bentaleb
I’m sure it’s probably been posted before, but what is the current weekly estimate for our higher earners including survival bonus?
Are we a million miles from £80k per week or somewhere in the same ballpark?
If the article is correct, he’s out of contract and looking to rebuild his career after injury and disciplinary problems. He may therefore not be able to expect anything like that sort of weekly wage.
I recognise the name but don’t recall anything about him as a player..... What sort of midfielder is he?

A few wasted years (injury and, importantly, discipline) plus an unsuccessful loan at Newcastle
Not a good cv although looked promising when first broke into Spurs side - but the same could be said of the likes of Ravel Morrison at Man Utd, and we know how that turned out

If you have a nosey around online, the general consensus is that Mee is our top earner on approx £55k a week basic, give or take a little.
He's our highest earning player, club captain etc.
To justify a higher wage for Bentaleb he'd need to have the same influence as a fit Defour as a minimum, with better fitness levels.

We dont need any crocks .Robbie Brady has taught us that lesson.Personally, I feel we need to do a serious assessment of our U23 squad and release any that aren't progressing.Any that look like stepping up we give new contracts to and promote them to the first team pool. Our big issue this year has been the lack of serious playing time for our U23 subs, this needs addressing.

Totally agree-JBG is also in that camp, and to be honest when he starts for us he plays right wing and its like playing with 10 men. I did read last night he took a voluntary pay cut at Shalke so maybe closer than we think. Although agree with you that he'd need to have Defour-like influence to even justify earning the same as the captain.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 8:42 am"with bonuses"...

That's pretty similar to what plenty of our players will be getting. It may be that it would be a lower basic but with higher bonuses but for a player with his record that's what most clubs would be offering anyway.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 11:23 pmHis wages are apparently over £80k a week.

The summer break will tell us what we need to know. Until then, we all know we go with what we have.

Certainly does need addressing.... if they are good enough to warrant being given serious playing time. If they aren’t deemed quite ready yet, then they are best left where they are until PL football is assured.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 9:03 amWe dont need any crocks .Robbie Brady has taught us that lesson.Personally, I feel we need to do a serious assessment of our U23 squad and release any that aren't progressing.Any that look like stepping up we give new contracts to and promote them to the first team pool.
