So is anyone attending a non-league game over the weekend
Just curious if anybody is going to try and attend a grass roots game this weekend now that fans are allowed.
I assume there is some form of controlled access to grounds, and you have to book a ticket in advance, otherwise there is the potential for many to go on spec, and you could have the situation of 100's congregating outside stadiums, and then not being able to get into the matches.

Colne have limited it to 200 people for now and ticket only. If they relax things a bit when league games start I'll go up, I'm not jumping through hoops to go to a semi pro game, it's ridiculous.

Kids are playing this morning so that’ll do for today but when local side start league games in 3 weeks that’s going to be our Saturday routine for this season. At least it keeps us in the habit of going out to a game.

Might just nip to Padiham as the 20/20 game at The House vs Rammy is looking decidedly dodgy.
Stumps at 2 if it is to go ahead.
Padiham ko is at 1300 hrs for a friendly vs 433 Football Management Agency. Free entry, but a donation
bucket will be present to help defray costs.

Obviously I won't be going to any games but I saw that Colne had a 200 limit and it was ticket only in advance and you have to take proof of purchase with you (the email). So they are ensuring the correct numbers in the ground, for starters.
Then I read about Padiham, it's free entry, a donation required and they are asking people to observe Government guidelines. That was it so how are they going to limit people going in?

Got to be an IQ test, below 10 and you are definitely a Padihamer and gain entry.

Re: So is anyone attending a non-league game over the weekend
Ashington have a friendly this afternoon and entrance is limited to tickets only which have to be pre-purchased. There is a limit of 200 available which have almost sold out at a cost of £3 each.
I have a season ticket which ony costs me £30 for the season and I can go and watch the game without problem, along with the other 90 or so seaon ticket holders.
It is worth having the season ticket because of the number of weekend and midweek games being played when the Clarets are not playing or are playing away ----and that is in normal circumstances!

Presumably they'll apply commonsense, and if it's busier than expected they can simply close the gates.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 10:08 amThen I read about Padiham, it's free entry, a donation required and they are asking people to observe Government guidelines. But in any case the safety level hs got very little to do with precise numbers. 300 who all observe social distancing and keep to the rules is far safer than just 20 who all herd together in one compact area, so unless Colne actually allocate a specific space to everyone who attends with a 2 metre zone around it, then to an extent it doesn't matter how many they admit.
Like most aspects of this it boils down to taking personal responsibility.

It does matter how many they admit. They will have a number just like every other club although I certainly accept your point regarding where they are once inside. I was just concerned at the potential free for all at Padiham.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 12:19 pmPresumably they'll apply commonsense, and if it's busier than expected they can simply close the gates.

That was when Lewis Brownhill, brother of Josh, was the captain and they won the Vase and the League. He has been a very good servant to RAF football as well as playing Combined Services football. I think that he plays for Spalding now.dpinsussex wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 12:32 pmOff to Thatcham today. FA Vase winners couple year ago. Officiating though.

You can’t beat a beginning of the season pitch. This is Padiham.

Don't know Joel at all but I know Lewis through his RAF connections because I attend lots of their games as a guest of one of my sons.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 12:49 pmLewis and brother Joel Brownhill have both signed for Spalding.

I just saw an article a week or two ago that they had both signed. Other than that I don’t know anything about them.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 1:27 pmDon't know Joel at all but I know Lewis through his RAF connections because I attend lots of their games as a guest of one of my sons.

must say I really enjoyed my game at thatcham. Two really disciplined sides. Good chat with both benches. Tight game. 1-2 final score. Sadly only 50 or 60 turned up.

I managed to get to my grandson's 4th u10 friendly in Daventry (Northants) this morning. His team, Daventry Town Spartans (there are 3 teams in his age group), won 5-1 but scored all 6 goals!

Those that have been to non league games, how's the sin bin system in practice?
Re: So is anyone attending a non-league game over the weekend
Good question, virtually unused in the games I've been to nowadays.superdimitri wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 5:09 amThose that have been to non league games, how's the sin bin system in practice?
In fact I can't remember when I last witnessed one.
Re: So is anyone attending a non-league game over the weekend
I saw one used battle Baptists v rye.
It ****** everybody off, particularly as there didn't appear to be any kind of card shown, so the only way to find out what had happened was to ask the sin binned player.
A work in progress. Appeared to create more annoyance with the officials.

Great win for Colne today as well in the FA Trophy at Buxton.
