I'm 8 episodes into the Haunting of Bly Manor. It's very watchable, less of a **** your pants horror than Hill House, more of an intriguing ghost story.
Still got plenty of bits that make you go all shivery though

Timeless on netflix, the series is about time travel. the acting is at times terrible, and the storylines are often ridiculous. That said, it is intriguing when you think about the possibilities of the changes to historical events.

Suits - late to the party but hooked. 3 or 4 episodes a night
Social Dilemma - highly recommend, should be shown to young teenagers

I’m the same, just one to go. Must admit I’m a little disappointed though. Very watchable but not a patch on Hill House.Croydon Claret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 11:39 amI'm 8 episodes into the Haunting of Bly Manor. Not sure what format it's on but Fargo meets the brief and is the best thing I've ever seen on TV.

Just started watching The Umbrella Academy on Netflix, good fun, very dark comedy and the music in it is excellent.
Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
Watched American Murder The Family Next Door last night. Made me feel sick and it’s hard to get out of your head but if you like true crime stuff it’s all done with police and social media footage.

Another recommendation for American Murder - The Family Next Door. A brilliant piece of TV made up entirely of real video with no outside narrative. Will shock you about the actual event and planning and at the same time raise anger and tears.

They should quote that in the trailerCroydon Claret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 11:39 amIt's very watchable, less of a **** your pants horror than Hill House, more of an intriguing ghost story.
Watched the 1st episode of Hill House on Sunday, it was quite eerie especially that scene with his sister at the and I didn't sleep particularly well afterwards..
Did find it a bit confusing at first with the flashbacks and working out which adult was which grown up child but will give the 2nd episode a go later.

Unfortunately, I watched that as well. Felt decidedly grubby afterwards - that was all too real to be used as entertainment. Struggled to get it out of my head for a few days. All those videos playing with his kids??
Nothing is too bad for him.

Just started Black Mirror on Netflix - watched 4 of em so far.
They are all individual episodes that are not connected / don’t follow on from each other.
Written by British comedian and writer Charlie Brooker - very clever and weird but enjoying them so far.
He’s got some pretty big Hollywood stars to appear in them and keeps on getting Netflix to commission new series so guessing this has done really well in the USA too.
Well worth a look for anyone looking for something new and a bit different

Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
Slightly off topic, but there’s a must watch documentary on BBC2 tonight 10.00pm.
2 brothers from the Wuhan research centre, where Trump suspects that COVID was engineered, were due to get on flight MH370, that miraculously disappeared.
Seems that they were the guys behind the development of the strain, and intending to use it as a weapon.
Someone caught wind of their plan, and purposefully downed the plane.
Neither of them got on the flight though.
It’s really interesting.
Have a look at it, it’s called TWO WONGS DON’T MAKE A FLIGHT.

Watched that Chicago Seven the other day and agree about the humour, but also found it shocking how it ever made it to court and how the judge behaved etc.
Definitely worth a watch though.

If you liked it I also recommend Molly's Game, he wrote the screenplay for that and it's a similar type of story.

The Newsroom is very good as well, as long as going into it you remember that it's a TV show and therefore it is of course an idealistic version of journalism and how journalism should be.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 9:48 amI've seen that advertised, didn't realise it was the same fella who'd written it.

The Four Year Plan - documentary on Prime about QPR when they were taken over by the italians. Best football club documentary I've seen, warts and all behind the scenes and some of the footage when the owners are trying to get the manager to make certain decisions mid-game are incredible

This seems to be the model trajectory for Netflix series. Puts me off watching them as you know, as you start the first series, that nothing will end up being resolved as they will want to leave the door open for series 2 ...and so on, and on.

Series 4 of the Crown coming this weekend, cant wait to watch this. I'm not a royalist at all, and I dont know how accurate the storylines have been, but it the previous series have left me with a better understanding of the Royals. I found myself googling the events for accuracy whilst watching episodes before, with series 4 I'll probably remember the events for myself
