If you get a chance to watch "The Old Man", give it a go. I believe its on apple TV. 2 episodes in, very good. The first episode is brutally good.
Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow.Brilliant!

We watched "The most hated man on the Internet " on Netflix last night, the Internet is a brilliant tool, but when people like Hunter Moore use it to ruin people's lives it's shows it in a very bad light, fascinating viewing though.
Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
read the Grey Man book on holiday last year, was hoping the film would have been ok, but it was pretty poor!

If you can find it out there I would recommend The Old Man starring Jeff Bridges which comes to a conclusion this week
I am also looking forward to series 2 of Slow Horses with Gary Oldman later this year it was filmed concurrent with series 1 which finished last month
I watched The Undeclared War over the weekend - not bad at all from AllFour
and have just finished watching The Rook - which was interesting also on AllFour
Cannot recommend The Old Man too highly - it ends with you wanting/needing to see what happens next - they just have to make season 2grapidianclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 11:58 pmIf you get a chance to watch "The Old Man", give it a go. Just finished watching it yesterday.
Compelling viewing yet distressing at the same time that people like HM and his followers exist.
Hopefully he got some payback in jail.

A Ukrainian detective show on child abductions. 8x45 minute episodes that thankfully comes to a conclusion. Excellent watch, enjoyed every episode.

Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
First visit to this thread. Just read every page and I've watched 5 or 6 of those recommended. I need to try harder or stop paying my subscriptions, I've got years worth of viewing to catch up even the basics everyone has seen. It's my own fault, it's not as if my life is too busy or important, I waste far too much time watching drivel on youtube. It was power washing transformations of filthy patios and driveways last night...

Wasn't sure at first, but I'm getting into it slowly and it's getting better as it goes along
I'm impressed with the overall quality of the production, but at the rumoured cost of £1 billion it should be good
I've read all of his books, so whilst it's not the Silmarillion, it's enough for now.

Just finished Kleo which is a stylish thriller about a former Stasi assassin.
Has shades of the also excellent Deutschland 83 series about it.
Just make sure you watch it with the original German sh and English subtitles, because the dubbing is horrendous

Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
Not sure if it's been mentioned but i've just watched the recent remake of All Quiet on the Western Front. It is available with English voice over/ dubbing which is very good and was a gruesome watch. The battlefield scenes are quite disturbing and the hopelessness of the whole war and the incompetence of the ruling classes was clear to see. The opening scene of stripping the dead of their uniforms and washing them to reuse is particularily sobering.

Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
1883 on paramount. The story of how the Dutton family ended up building a ranch in what i
became known as Yellowstone national park. Most excellent. The husband & wife team of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are really good as is Sam Elliot.
That should bring you nicely onto Yellowstone, again on paramount.
Kevin Costner, Luke grimes and the awesomely wonderful Kelly Reilly in a modern day tale of ranching in the very beautiful Yellowstone national park. Reilly steals every scene she’s in as the mean and moody Beth Dutton. Cole Hauser is great too as Rip, the lead hand cowboy. Best thing I’ve seen in ages.
