Liberators - WW2 based on a true story etc, but I was quite impressed with the way it was filmed tbh, reminded me of part of the old AHA music video for Take on Me

The Four Year Plan - documentary on Prime about QPR when they were taken over by the italians. Best football club documentary I've seen, warts and all behind the scenes and some of the footage when the owners are trying to get the manager to make certain decisions mid-game are incredible
Great shout, just watched this on your recommendation, brilliant watch and a potential warning to what may be ahead

Cheers for the recommendation GIADJ, I'm interested in anything WW1/WW2 related so gave the 1st episode a watch this afternoon and it looks promising.

Although it's cleverly done , I wasn't sure about the unusual style of filming at first but actually it does seem to work once you get used to it.

No probs.

The style works quite well all the way through, although like you I wasn't sure at first.

Not to be missed The Queens Gambit - excellent lead roles for both female actors playing the young and the grown up Beth Harmon. Thanks for the recommendations on here. Haven't played much chess myself - you'd think it couldn't be a good watch but it was fascinating and compelling. According to eBay, there was a 273 per cent increase in searches for “chess sets” on the online auction site in the 10 days following the show’s arrival on Netflix, which equates to one search every six seconds.

Just started watching The Umbrella Academy on Netflix, good fun, very dark comedy and the music in it is excellent.
Thanks for the heads up Steve, we binged this over the past week or so, it’s quirky but great to watch. I hope season 3 delivers too.

Started Designated Survivor a couple of nights back, premise is that there needs to be someone elected to be the designated survivor in case the US government all get killed... which is what happens in the first moments of the first episode.

Jack Bauer, sorry Kiefer Sutherland, is Tom Kirkman who is the lowly elected official who is thrown into the life of POTUS and it’s all about how he steps up and copes...

Enjoying it so far, and although it’s into 4 series and discontinued I believe I think it’s worth watching so far...

Could have been good had they not tried to portray every single male character as incompetent, unsympathetic and disbelieving.

We binge watched the first 2 series of DS, which were really gripping.

Think it starts to run out of steam in the 3rd series though as the 'lowly guy thrown into an extraordinary situation' angle wanes (as he's now proved himself).

Still a good watch though and it still has the gorgeous Italia Ricci in season 3 so what's not to like? ;-)

Designated Survivor was really good for first 2 series then ABC cancelled it. Netflix picked it up for series 3 but it wasn’t as good tbh. Lot of the writers/cast had moved onto and committed to other shows after the cancellation

It's probably been mentioned, but Haunting of Hill House was compulsive viewing, and, weirdly for americans, perfectly cast I think. I mean, they all still had perfect teeth but there was at least a little roughness.
I'm three in to Haunting of Bly Manor which is also good, but less captivating.

No one bothered with American Horror Story? There's 8 or 9 series which can seem overwhelming but they don't interlink* and Murder House, Asylum and Coven are 30 hours of your life that are worth giving up.

*they do interlink but not until series 9 i think - the apocalypse one.

Another recommendation for American Murder - The Family Next Door. A brilliant piece of TV made up entirely of real video with no outside narrative. Will shock you about the actual event and planning and at the same time raise anger and tears.
Didn't know anything about the story beforehand and having watched it this morning have to say it's probably one of the most shocking and sad things I've seen on TV for a long time, especially as it is real-life. :(

How on earth could anyone even contemplate doing something like that to their own baby daughters let alone their pregnant wife just to be with another woman? :o

I watch plenty of WW2 films so that particular genre appeals to me, it’s not the best 1 I’ve seen but it’s ok with the sea battles fending off the Uboats, if you wasn’t really interested in war movies you probably wouldn’t like it.

Just finished binge watching 'Trial 4' on Netflix.

Intriguing true life documentary about Sean Ellis, a 19 year old man wrongly convicted of the murder of a Boston policeman after 3 trials during the mid nineties.

He spent over 22 years in jail before being granted a 4th trial as a new lawyer takes up his case and unveils evidence of police corruption, systemic racism and conspiracy.

If anyone's into Sci Fi, "The Expanse" on Prime is absolutely fantastic. New series about to start too.

The Boys and Vikings are both worth watching too - also on Prime.

Star Trek Discovery and Snowpiercer are good watches on Netflix. I've never been a fan of Star Trek, so that surprised me.

Money Heist is a really great series, if you can get past the bad dubbing. It's a Spanish series dubbed over.

Then you have the staples - Narcos, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Ozark, Stranger Things, Shooter.... Can't call yourself a Netflix Binger without ticking these off.
