Papa John Trophy
So the EFL Trophy is now to be known as the Papa John's Trophy for the next 3 years following a new sponsorship deal. To think we laughed at the Sherpa Van title all those years ago.

I hadn't seen this OP when I posted on the MMT thread

this thread from @Uglygame highlights problems with the competition, it's rapid sponsor turnover and just who the current sponsor is and what baggage comes with them

Re: Papa John Trophy
Papa Johns sponsored the Championship the year we finished 2nd. You had to pick your team, and if they scored 2 goals you got 50% off your order.
Needless to say, with Vokes and Ings up front I put a few lbs on.

Cup sponsorship - it’s where the dough is.

Apparently they’ve signed a sponsorship deal for four seasons.

Re: Papa John Trophy
Likely to be a domino effect with sponsors now
Re: Papa John Trophy
Given we can enter it, I reckon Pepperoni goes on and wins the bugger at some point
Re: Papa John Trophy
Can "Chicago Town" enter it now

Re: Papa John Trophy
SkyBet were the title sponsor, Papa John's were just the ''official pizza of the SkyBet Football League'' or whatever they say.

Re: Papa John Trophy
In times like this I don't think it matters who the sponsor is. Whichever way you slice it they knead the dough.

All falling very flat these comments.

Re: Papa John Trophy
Another step away from local culture and a step towards global/American culture. American TV and films portray Pizza as a real treat which is great because it's low in nutritional value and great for high margins because it's cheaper than chips.
Not really surprising that the story is nothing more than an advert for Papa John's.

To be fair it's not like the pizza is replacing anything. And even if it was, it's not exactly any worse for you then a burger or a pie.

Re: Papa John Trophy
Good news. It'll be a good option and as long as it's not ridiculously overpriced it's a welcomed addition to the grub on offer.

Re: Papa John Trophy
Thank goodness we don’t qualify, I cannot think of anything worse than drawing Forest Green (in that kit) on a cold Tuesday night and the highlight of a half time Vegan Papa John’s.
Re: Papa John Trophy
We could win that trophy. It would be a pizza cake.
Re: Papa John Trophy
I went up to one of the stalls for a simple margarita and the obnoxious sod was going on about having pineapple for health, peppers for my 5 a day, beef to give my red blood count a boost and on and on he went in the end I just had to say Papa don't preach.
