Have to say I started looking up after yesterday.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 6:53 pmYes we'll probably need a couple of wins to be sure, but we'll surely get those given our remaining fixtures, and even a win and a few draws should suffice now.
Thankfully for us we got our bad run out of the way early in the season, and now we've hit our straps we're coming on strong, indeed if anything we're more likely to climb the table than fall down it.

Just had a look at the points situation after 29 matches in previous seasons to work out what the possible points total required at the the end of the season for the club in 18th with Fulham currently on 26 points.
14/15 18th had 25 points after 29 matches. The club being relegated got 35 points (Hull)
15/16 18th had 25 points after 29 matches. The club being relegated got 37 points (Newcastle)

19/20 18th had 27 points after 29 matches. The club being relegated got 34 points (Bournemouth)

For all that you'd also have to factor in the points share throughout the division.Spijed wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 10:09 pmJust had a look at the points situation after 29 matches in previous seasons to work out what the possible points total required at the the end of the season for the club in 18th with Fulham currently on 26 points.

Have we seen a season where top-end clubs have dropped so many points?

Amazing what a bit of panic does on here!

Re: 3 from 5 already
I dont think for a minute we'll go down but when you get into the last 4 or 5 games past form is meaningless.
Any team can win a few on the bounce at the end of the season and sometimes thats all it takes for a team to suddenly see themselves leapfrogged with no games left to catch the points back

What is pretty amazing is that the "5" are almost the same but, thankfully, Newcastle have taken our place in that mêlée

I'm beginning to think you are a member of the Dyche family.
"As long as he remains our manager....." that's absolute rubbish.

Re: 3 from 5 already
I still think we’ll be safe but if we do go down then we really do only have ourselves to blame.
Re: 3 from 5 already
I hope we'll be safe especially as we're pretty close already.
I just hope the players don't think we're safe already.
We'll all be looking over our shoulders big time if Fulham beat Wolves
on Friday night and we lose (or draw?) against Newcastle.

Re: 3 from 5 already
I feel yesterday was a big day in the survival battle, yes we lost which was disappointing, but so did Brighton & more importantly Fulham, and the games are rapidly running out for Fulham to close the gap, realistically they'll have to beat Burnley and Newcastle, and pick up a couple of results elsewhere from their remaining fixtures, not impossible by any means but difficult when the pressure is building, and their late collapse at Villa doesn't suggest a team that can haul themselves out of trouble, given we meet Newcastle this weekend you feel Fulham will need to notch the 3 points against Wolves otherwise their task is looking hopeless in all honesty.
And if we beat Newcastle that should be pretty much mission accomplished for us, we'll almost certainly nick another point or two minimum, and crucially Fulham host Newcastle on the final day, so as long as we maintain a reasonable points gap to both then they can't both overhaul us should it go to the wire.

Re: 3 from 5 already
A quick update since Fulham have now played 31 matches and have got 26 points - to see how many points will be required to survive.
Looking very much like that 36 points (one more win for us) will see us over the line.
14/15 18th had 26 points. The club relegated got 35 points (Hull)
15/16 18th had 27 points. The club relegated got 37 points (Newcastle)
16/17 18th had 28 points. The club relegated got 34 points (Hull)
17/18 18th had 28 points. The club relegated got 33 points (Swansea)
18/19 18th had 28 points. The club relegated got 34 points (Cardiff)
19/20 18th had 27 points. The club relegated got 34 points (Bournemouth)

A quick look at the table just after we'd played Spurs. Fulham haven't make any dent in the points gap, WBA have closed the gap by two.

Quite amazingly, the same 5 propping up the table
With 6 games to play, (5 for Fulham) that 6-point cushion is looking pretty good

Is this thread now obsolete
Re: 3 from 5 already
Its 3 from 3 now.
Hopefully we finish on a relative high, and we are starting work on next season, especially in the recruitment department.

Re: 3 from 5 already
Well! Fulham need to win 3 from 5, and West Brom 4 from 6 just to even match our current points tally, so if either or both can pull off that feat then good luck to them, but we'll not finish 36 points, not on that display today, we'll amass several more at least.
I suppose there is a slim chance Brighton could yet get dragged in, but even that looks a long shot now.
Re: 3 from 5 already
Just one place left on the train to relegation:
The passengers are - Fulham, Burnley, Southampton, Brighton & Newcastle.

Re: 3 from 5 already
If we win tomorrow then Fulham are down
Edit: didn’t realise Southampton would have a game in hand. They would be the only team Fulham could catch

They wouildn't be able to catch Southampton. They're on 37 points and the most Fulham could get if they lose tomorrow would be 36.

For some reason I missed half the sentence that I intended to type (it has been a long day)
Was meant to end with “..and that’s only if they don’t lose”

Re: 3 from 5 already
Kind of weird that 3 from the bottom 4 in early November went through the trap door in May. I wonder how often that has happened?
Re: 3 from 5 already
Time to get this going again
Re: 3 from 5 already
I'd say Norwich look as porous as ever. Then it's two from another 7-8 in all likelihood.
Re: 3 from 5 already
Watford conceded a goal or two yesterday so we just need to come up with another team to relegate this evening and we’re practically safe
