Are residents drives full or is their still room to park?

The owners of the Coffee/snack Cabin in Barley will be millionaires before this Covid finishes.

I went at 9am Monday morning and it was filling up then.
Apparently Saturday was chaos, near gridlock some weekends.

We live in such a beautiful area with so many stunning spots to go for a walk. Never fails to amaze me how limited most people's knowledge of what is on offer seems to be. Feel sorry for the residents of Barley but also pleased in a way because with all the clueless idiots hitting the same spots it's very easy to have a nice walk in solitude!

Matter of time before Barley becomes a World Heritage Site and so additional car parking will have to be created to cater for the demand.

Is the cabin open for takeaways? They make a mean bacon and egg butty.

Me & the missus went up Weets hill from Todber passed only 2 people, 2 separate individuals, a bloke on the way up a woman on the way down but both, strangely, were dressed in virtually identical long black capes that came down to long pointed boots and both of their hoods came to a Pointed peak.
I said to the missus maybe Pendle hill is too packed by day and the witches, and wizards maybe, hang out on Weets til nightfall
It was admittedly a miserable day weather wise, the track up was like a little river and the dip on coal pit lane was knee height flooded.
I bet though Barley was still rammed that day.

What have I told you people!!!!!!! :( :( :(

Seriously, it is a lovely place with lots of walks (and not just the hill).
But, there are many cracking walks all over the place and not far away and far fewer people if people just did a bit more research.

Maybe people just like a walk up Pendle and aren’t bothered if there are others around enjoying a walk too?

Problem with Barley is there are to many of those clapped out old cottages that take up good parking spaces denying us 4x4 owners easy parking so we have to park on drives, knock them down, build a few blocks of flats everyone's happy, the locals get decent flats with running water, flushing toilets and pebble dashing we get more parking.

Not sure where all the people are coming from. There's much nicer walks closer to Manchester and Leeds.
Locals must be aware of beaten tracks away from all the townies too surely?

What do they expect if they buy a house there? On one side of them is Pendle Hill, that my kids and dog love to walk up so they can be the tallest people around, and the other side is the car park from where the walk starts.

It's like buying a house accross from a school and then complaining about the traffic at drop off times.

The problem in Barley is that Pendle council opened the sculpture trail and proceeded to advertise it all over the north of England without investing in any of the infrastructure of the village. Add to that all the TV shows full of the ghost hunting clowns. So, what was a pretty little village for local people is now being ruined. Double yellow lines and electronic barrier on the car park. There’ll be a ******* McDonalds next.

Helsby Hill was almost deserted yesterday. Lovely walk with absolutely fabulous views across the Mersey Estuary and as far away as the Welsh Hills. Well worth a visit and not a snack bar in sight.

and similar to folk who regularly complain when a match is on (never at the moment) despite moving to Admiral Street for example in the last year. Complaining the football club is in a residential area. It's been there years, long before you moved into the area.

Thing I like best about the good people of Barley is at this time of year they always grit their drives so you can a get a cracking parking space when they drive to the shops . Yes they are lazy and should walk also carbon footprint concerns so selfish springs to mind I encourage my friends kids to throw snowballs at them for even more fun.

As, the police say, get there early folks because the parking gets taken up quickly.

Happy sledging!
