A great point for West Brom, it's a good job we got the 3 points at the Emirates, because Fulham & West Brom are picking up results as well.

The big losers from these games is Sheff Utd, they are in real danger of getting cut adrift unless they can put a win or 2 on the board very soon.

Something is not well in the City camp, they've looked lethargic all season, and I can't see them mounting a title challenge on their present form.
Ran out of gas. There’s only so long a team can stay at their levels. Same at Liverpool to some extent.

It shaping up to be a very exciting season. I’m sure I replied to you a month or 2 ago and said it’ll be the most compact PL season ever in terms of points separating bottom to top. Sheffield United aside I still stand by that. Looking at our fixtures it’s not out of the question we’ll be knocking on the door to europe come the Liverpool game.

Not sure why we have to bang on about how bad we are against City whenever they play poorly or another team grabs a result against them. If they’d have played anything like they can it would have been a similar result to when they played us.

What matters is we get points from the teams around us with the odd surprise points like this week at the Emirates. As far as I’m concerned we can get smashed twice by City every season if we get the other points we always seem to manage. It’s not like we haven’t made it hard for City a couple of times at the turf.....
I suppose we bang on about it because it's not just the odd defeat, but a string of absolute batterings.

Good results for the Clarets tonight, both Chelsea and City stay within reach of a "rejuvenated" Clarets team. ;)

Is this the most compact of any Premier League season after 11-13 games?

But they haven’t battered us every time. They were very fortunate to not get an early red in one of the games. They were very fortunate when Bernado Silva cheated for the first goal in one game. They had a goal half an inch over the line at the turf to win 1 - 0 not so long ago....etc etc. Even in one of the cup games we were level after an hour.

Any points against them are bonus points and we have caught them on hot days a couple of times, particularly Aguero. The two games post lockdown have been poor but from memory the first one we started ok coming out of lockdown against a team that had already had a game and were more match sharp you could argue.

Like I said, it’s irrelevant where we get our points...

Oh, so they haven't regularly battered us recently then?

Sorry, my mistake.

The point I was making is we don’t have to have our results against City banged down our throats every time they play poorly and or drop points against one of our rivals. It happens every time they play someone.

Perhaps that's the only way we may change it?

Good idea. Go and tell Sean every time City are not beating someone else 5 -0. I’m sure he’ll appreciate the constructive criticism from that and from this message board...given only a few months ago he was steering us to a draw at Anfield against the Champions who finished god knows how many points above Man City that season and had won about 30 straight home league games

Having beaten Arsenal I fully expect us to finish above at least five clubs, including the current bottom three along with Leeds and Brighton. The Man city result won't matter one iota in the end.

I'll happily accept getting dicked by City every season as long as we stay in this league. Since that 5-0 reverse at the Etihad we've picked up 4 points from Everton & Arsenal. And after losing 5-0 at the Etihad last season we went on a great run of form, I'm sure sooner or later we'll eventually get a result against them, but I won't lose any sleep if we don't, it hasn't unduly affected our league form in the past few seasons, and the early indications are that it won't this time either.

Love your optimism Paul. Feeling a bit angry tonight that Wolves got an unexpected win from mid-table and WBA picked up a point in what I’d expected to be a dead cert loss.

That’s the spirit though. Cheered me up! :)

Odd. Maybe they are two mates who go back a long way sharing the joke that one of them has just "done" the other.
