EFL Cup quarter-finals 22/12/20

Post by tiger76 » Tue Dec 22, 2020 5:17 pm

Brentford-Newcastle first up at 5-30. Followed by the heavyweight clash Arsenal-Man City, i

It'll be interesting to see how the under fire Gunners perform in the cup against Pep's team, who must consider this trophy their own personal property, having lifted it 3 years on the bounce.

Strong Newcastle line-up, Hendrick on the bench once more.

DaSilva scores, best player on the pitch says commentator. It's some production line that Brentford have.

Newcastle bringing on the battering ram, otherwise known as Andy Carroll. Last throw of the dice by Steve Bruce.

Newcastle dumped out, 4th PL side Brentford have dumped out this season, Bruce must be on dodgy ground now, I can see the Geordies turning on him very quickly after that.

The Geordies I know promised a boycott before the season started because of Bruce. Lasted 0 minutes.

I don't know what's best for us, if they win tonight, which looks a long shot, then as you say their confidence might grow, but if they lose tonight, and then against Chelsea, Arteta might get the bullet, can't see why he's doing a fabulous job if you ask me.

Arsenal and its crap defence have become notorious, so the nature of the goal was no surprise, but I'm lost as to how Arteta can't see it. The centre half's are completely clueless.

City are no better at the back, it's just that their defence doesn't get tested as often.

2-1 City Mahrez, poor goalkeeping from Arsenal's reserve stopper, clearly they shouldn't have gone to Iceland with that one.

That’s putting it kindly mate. Was an absolute shocker. An U7 keeper would’ve made a better effort of keeping that out!

This could get messy for Arsenal now, City are in their groove.

Finished 4-1 to City, they aren't giving up this trophy lightly are they.
