we must have the most fickle fans in the country

Post by pushpinpussy » Sun Jan 24, 2021 4:39 pm

its really embarrassing reading this message board these days. the people who slag players off week in week out then the next week they are world beaters. i actually feel sorry for you. Get behind them all whatever their performance or form is.

i actually thought it was because of lockdown or the school holidays. then i have just realised lately that its a lot of sad old men with nothing better to do but argue rubbish and slag players off. I hardly read this board because of them.

Football's a game of highs and lows - message boards are going to reflect that. Every single club will be the same.

Are you sure it is the same people?

"The Board" is not just one person but a whole range of people that have variant views.

Reading the Brownhill thread today, I did wonder if lockdown was having an adverse effect on some posters.

The irony of this post, when just a few days ago you came on a thread that I’d created and called me a prick for suggesting that Jay can get more out of Wood than Barnes. No explanation, just accused me of being a prick!

Remain happy in spite of any performance.

There are posters on here who only go to Turf Moor only when there team visit or have never been within 15 miles of the happy place..If they get a kick out of writing rubbish on this message board they are leading a very sad life.

I know quite a few supporters of other clubs and we are far from unique in this.

In fact, many say we are quite mild and understanding compared to a lot of fans of other clubs.

Yet you start a thread to slag off people who you've never met, who slag off people who you've never met 🤔 on a board you hardly read because of the people you've never met, who slag off people you've never met ...

You need to watch a few highlights from Arsenal TV/West Ham TV. London clubs fans know how to be fickle.

We are not fickle. We are whingers. If we were fickle, we'd not be here. We'd be supporting somebody at the top of the league that we think is better than everyone else, and then having Leeds and Celtic as our second teams. Or maybe, that'll be Rangers in a few months.

Most fickle or not the dreary happiness sapping aspect is the fact that a very small number of posters dominate the board trying to impose their opinions. I do know a number of people who don't engage because of that. It ranges from foul mouthed idiots to intelligent informed folks who cannot deal with being challenged.

Yep. And we are whingers. Not fickle.

Its not like you have to read many threads to work that one out.

This website is a running joke amongst most Burnley fans I know for being full of people who talk s**t. But then I go to games and see people slagging players off week in week out too so I’m not sure why on here would be any different.

I suppose it depends on the definition of fickle being used. If a club still has a strong and passionate support when they are rubbish, that keep going regularly, then they have, at least, a reasonably unfickle fan base imo.

So, I'd class burnley, Sunderland, Newcastle, the Sheffield clubs, crystal Palace, Portsmouth, West brom, plymouth as examples of "not fickle."

I guess there are some that have not been tested of late.

Villa, brighton, Watford, Reading and maybe Leeds would be in my fickle group, although I'm sure they all have a decent group that don't fit that description.

Birmingham have to be the biggest whingers in the country. It may be that everybody else can't compete with that accent, but I've never met one that wasn't. It's Almost as if they get off on the masochism that going to St Andrews provides.

Hi Tim,

I'll take back what I said about your fans in hindsight as fickle isn't the correct term so my apologies 👍
