Ollie Watkins

Post by Quickenthetempo » Thu Jan 28, 2021 1:36 pm

What a first half performance he gave last night. Pace, movement, running the line, occupying all our defenders at times.
I thought Villa were bonkers paying that fee for him but what a player he looks.
We simply couldn't cope with him.

According to some on here we have our own version of Stan and Ollie up front....I wouldn’t swap ours for their Ollie tbh

Do you think he'll score as many as Wood?

He's not likely to be going anywhere soon in all fairness considering he's just signed a new contract and he loves the club which is massively on the up. They seem to have endless amounts of cash too

that maybe, but our 7 season's in the Premier League have not seen us able to spend the £240m and counting that they have in the last 4 windows, that and no debt as there two billionaire owners keep piling money into shares rather than loans - still means that the club is getting used to living beyond it's means without regular European football though, which could mean they are no different to Bolton in the long run.

If hes ambitious he will leave, Villa will never pull up any trees, hes just inflating his transfer fee with his long contract.

I don't disagree with that at all Chester. My comment is aimed at Watkins and my belief that he is worth every penny of what they paid.

Their business last season was atrocious bar Heaton and Mings I'd say and they still spent well over a 100 million

Hard to say. He's pretty much a certainty for England so he doesn't need to move to enhance his international prospects does he. Villa could well be a top 4 challenging side soon just like Leicester. No reason why not

I suppose the summer will tell us what Grealish does, cant see him turning down a chance at a top four side, something Villa will never be

Watkins moved to Villa in the summer from Brentford mate. He wasn't with them when we were in Europe

Had we not been in the middle of a pandemic I think there would have been some offers come in for Grealish. In regards to the original post yes I think Watkins along with Villas style is perfect for him, be interesting to see how he progresses.

That's a stupid bet as you'd need to do it by season.

I'll happily have £50 with you that he scores more goals than Chris Wood in the 21/22 season where its a fresh start for both? Providing we stay up of course which looks likely.

And Wood had already scored almost five times the number of Watkins if we don't take some arbitrary starting point of the start of this season.

I've given you a perfectly sensible bet but you're chickening out. Why would I commit to a bet such as yours when he might not necessarily still be in the Premier league? You're delusional.

You, yet again, was the person to mention chris wood even though my comment on Watkins mentioned nothing about wood. Obsessed pal.

Either take the bet or even better do one

Your bet isn't sensible though as its too far ahead and leaves to many variables. Relegation, long term injuries, transfer abroad etc

No, you're not getting a four goal head start. From now until the end of the season I have Wood to score more PL goals than Watkins.

You're probably getting the good end of the deal as Villa do create more chances than we do.

And maybe I should've added a smiley after my joke

I'm not saying I want a 4 goals start im just clarifying what both players on. So again do you agree Watkins is on 8 and Wood is on 4? Therefore whoever scores most from there/today IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE wins the bet?

OK, that makes sense.

Booked. £50?

Villa have played one game fewer than us as well so you're getting an extra good deal.

No mate im a fair person so Villa have to play their game in hand over us first. I've just checked and they play Southampton on the 30th so if we ignore that game then both teams have played 19 so we can start it from then?

OK, or you can send me one at my email address.

I make bets with strangers on the internet all the time and usually settle by PayPal. Wood v Pukki was a big winner for me last season.
