Beautiful day in Fife.
What’s the rock, in the last one, Steve. I’m usually pretty good on google maps but can’t find that one. It looks like the top half of an elephant.

Looking for some help / advice here. I select attachment and upload to the reply box, the problem is on completion of upload I get a warning triangle telling me the file (jpg) is invalid. The file - and it happens whatever topic I try to reply to - is my own photograph. Any ideas?

Possibly file size? Max. of 2Mb. It tells you the file size to the right of the green line as it uploads.

Possibly although I have uploaded photo's in the past without problems, I'll check file size again next time.

Thanks for the thought.

Rochdale Canal, Hebden Bridge (near the train station).

It seems a shame that Burnley Council (and British Waterways) can’t make our own Leeds & Liverpool canal area more attractive for locals and tourists.

It’s canal & rivers trust not British waterways, lots of events do go on but it’s not that well advertised unless you are on the waterways or a member of the organisation & lots of activities have been stopped especially volunteering work (litter picking days) but now things are starting to come back on, same applies to the ribbles trust & the catchment areas with the volunteering, Himalayan balsam pulling & weir work, bank erosion ect, It’s only really in summer & the warmer months the canals get busy, on a cold winters day sometimes you are lucky to see anybody on the towpath.

It's a Black Necked Grebe, Dan. The Aire Valley is a bit of a hot spot for them. There's been a Slavonian Grebe seen recently, but I had no luck at the weekend.

Well worth a visit to St Aidans next time you're back over, I dont think it was run by the RSPB while you were over this way. It's run as a sister site to Fairburn Ings.

No problem JM. They're in great condition, they're on a very public stretch of river, and the locals make sure they're looked after, with bits of food such as fresh chicken or dog biscuits/treats (rather than takeaway scraps) and medicine - I've helped with the provision of mange tablets a few times, and also antibiotics for eye infections. The matriarch of the family passed away this winter, she was estimated to be 12 or 13 years of age, which is incredible really, given that urban foxes average 4-5 year lifespans normally. The parents have moved the cubs to another chamber, so the cubs haven't been seen for 10 days or so now, but you can hear them squabbling occasionally in deep undergrowth. We think there's 3 sets of cubs on the river, in probably a half kilometre stretch, but this family are the healthiest in their coat and size.

Do you get fruit, Bosscat? They look well established. We’ve had an eating apple, a cooking apple, a pear and a plum in for 5 years now and had next to nothing. We have had our best blossom ever this year so I’m hopeful. Need more bees.

Not on the Cherries they are ornamental. We have a Damson that fruits every few years, an apple that fruits every year but the birds and wasps eat most of the fruit and a crabapple (thats no good for eating but helps pollinate the other apple tree).

I thought I'd wait for the weather to improve before contributing

Can we see the same photo but in colour as it is today....I think the photos will be completely different with you being unable to replicate the brilliance of the black and white one,it really is a great photo that one
