Can we see the same photo but in colour as it is today....I think the photos will be completely different with you being unable to replicate the brilliance of the black and white one,it really is a great photo that one
I'll take one next time I'm out

I have a Canon sx60 I use on holiday's etc but mainly use my phone for every day stuff...

The Canon is a great bit of kit to me ... but having seen the DSLR thread I won't mention it on there 🤭

As a pro do you prefer that style? Personal view is I would crop the left half off to highlight the refection, which is fabulous. I bow to your superior knowledge.

I always like to leave space when it appears an animal is travelling. This is a really quick edit of one from today, I’ve not looked through them in detail yet, and it may get recut when I get down to the shortlist later. I also like black space when there’s reflections, i think it adds to the effect, as it appears the reflection is in nothingness, rather than water, if that makes sense.... probably not explained it that well. Early start tomorrow for hopefully cuckoos, pine marten and red squirrels, and a myriad of forest birds..... in the pouring rain of course

Thanks Spades, the Cuckoo and Pine Marten were both elusive today, but these little ones always are a joy to photograph. Will have to go back in a month or so for the Pine Marten, hopefully with this year's cubs.

Thanks Beddie - semi pro, do a little bit of wildlife photography guiding and tuition, and am a freelance racecourse photographer - providing books and publications, as well as artists for portraits and owners with high quality prints of their horses in action.

I love starlings.
They don't half bicker amongst themselves. Much worse than jackdaws!
Usually get a huge family of young eating mealworm & fatballs, but I've curtailed ground feeding this year after a rat problem.

We are quite lucky to be Rat Free (as far as we are aware) here, so still ground feed on the lawn.
Its great seeing our pair of resident Magpies (who nest just down the railway line from us) argueing with the Jackdaws 🤭. Magpies 2-1 Jackdaws this week

I eventually caught the rat and she was released, with a couple of her offspring a mile out of the village.
My neighbors weren't so kind or patient.
A couple of them got a rat killer in. Think the rest of her brood ended up dead.
It was last year shortly after 1st lockdown, tourists had to stop coming. Pub and roadside bins were empty.
Guess the local rats got hungry. I saw her in the garden, obviously pregnant, eating seeds and, hedgehogs food.
She stayed close by. She even managed to jump onto a feeder on the washing line. Have a video of it.
At least she wasn't killed. They are remarkably resilient, clever creatures.

On Sunday, I spent a while studying a preening male mute swan, as he went through his whole maintenance routine, in the water, out of the water, splashing and diving, before meticulously preening out all of the old feathers. Here's a few photos from the portfolio of shots that I took.
