Vydra 7

That second half was as embarrassing as the West Brom home game.
No creativity, just lumping the ball in the air for their centre backs.

Peacock-Farrell 6 - one cracking save and swept up well. Little chance with the goals.
Lowton 6 - steady defensively but his delivery could have been better.
Tarkowski 5 - roasted a couple of times by Sain Maximum
Mee 6 - solid enough, his pen was as much as one as the supposed Longstaff pen.
Pieters 6 - should have got into a better position recovery wise on their 1st.
Gudmunson 6 - thought his general play was good but again delivery not quite there.
Westwood 6 - reasonable
Brownhill 6 - reasonable but one awful free kick when well positioned.
McNeil 7 - used the ball very well and some.excellent delivery into the box.
Wood 6 - really good first half but quiet in the second.
Vydra 7* - played well but not sure we utilised him as frequently as we might into the shallow channels in the second half.

Really needed to make the first 60 minutes count where we were well on top. Their keeper made some excellent saves but one of those corners has to result in a goal.

The rest 3

Dyche (1) I love him to bits, but he's becoming more and more clueless each season without funds, the club needs to back him before he naffs off

As someone else posted we dominated for 60 minutes, played some good stuff but needed to make it count.

Going behind + lack of options = total predictability from us unfortunately. I’d have brought on Cork and Taylor for what it’s worth.

BPF 7 quality save first half and better with his feet
Lowton 6 played ok but what the **** is wrong with our crossing. He among others used to be able to cross it anywhere but to the keeper.
Tarks 5
Mee 5
Pieters 6
JBG 6 Disappeared second half though.
Westwood 5 crossing absolutely ****.
McNeil 6 ok at times the only one who crossed it remotely well but he still looked slow and a bit average.
Wood 8 good strikers performance. Much better with Vydra.
Vydra 8 same as woody.

BPF 6 - did ok but could have done better for goal 2 (hard one but think Pope would save it)
Lowton 5 - too many aimless passes
Mee 6 - fairly comfortable
Tarkowski 5 - the main culprit who let SM run at him (should have stepped out and fouled him)
Pieters 6 - not too much quality
McNeil 7 - very busy but not always right options chosen
Westwood 7 - some good probing
Brownhill 5 - stubborn but useless when chasing a game because forward passes give him a nosebleed
Vydra 7 - dynamic and troublesome
Wood 7 - caused problems all day long

Not much to say really - Newcastle hung on by their fingertips and took advantage of that good defending by capitalising on our poor equivalent. Let’s just say the equaliser was a top finish, but the second should have been stopped 50 yards out, stepping into SM, and if he tricks past, hauling him down for a yellow. I suspect Tarky thinks he’s too good to lower himself to that, but here’s the thing - he isn’t. Times like this I get annoyed with him, like when he tried a Cruyff turn and needlessly gave away a corner.

I'm sorry but for a game of such importance that was simply way off. As soon as they made their changes we did absolutely nothing, zero, nowt, zilch to combat it. The same again when we were 2-1 down. It's all about framework and shape, but today, for me that simply doesn't cut it.
Our game management both on and off the pitch has been appalling the last two games

BPF - 6 Good save 1st half and no chance with the goals
Lowton - 5 Performances are back to where he was earlier this season
Mee - 5 Just not the same player at the moment. Whether he’s feeling the negative vibes from Tarky
Tarky - 5 Would have been 4 if it wasn’t for that goal line clearance. Looks disinterested
Pieters - 4 Too old and too slow
JBG - 4 Can’t beat a man or get a good cross in. What’s the point then?
Brownhill - 4 If the rumours are true please somebody drive him to East London
Westwood - 3 Madness is doing the same things over and over again and nothing improving. Been pants for months
McNeil - 4 One trick pony who slows the game down.
Wood - 6 Did his best with the dross that was served up to him
Vydra - 7 Never stopped working and deserved his goal

Nothing more to say than that was rubbish. Where’s the strong jaw gone now Dyche?

That sort of turnaround should only happen in exhibition games. It's happened to us twice in 7 days. Very worrying.

We lack pace
We sh1t ourselves up against pace
That's a shocking premier league bench
We are where we are because we have beaten 1 of the bottom 6 at home all season, and that's the awful bottom club.

A lot needs to change at the club as it's been left to rot for too long, the building job gets bigger after each failed window.

We should be ok this season, but next season could be a whole different story

One of the definitions of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. We may have a huffed and puffed a lot in the 2nd half but we needed some guile not balls lumped into the box time and again for their keeper or defender to clear. Tiptoeing into danger IMHO.

Let us not forget that PF was let off a third goal by Tarky.

Lad looked proper shaky through all of the 2nd half. He is not the future.

Unbelievably irritating result. We were not robbed as such but the better side for 60 minutes. How often do we get 13 corners, have 24 shots and 57% possession and lose?

Peacock-Farrell 6 -Not a fan as I feel he compares unfavourably to Pope (tbf who wouldnt?) and has a mistake in him but he didn't do a lot wrong and one excellent save that was pretty much glossed over in the penalty discussion
Lowton 5 Gone backwards a bit since the Palace game
Tarkowski 5 - I think he switched off for the Armstrong goal last week and same again for the winner and not to mention the Cruyff in the first half. Good block late on but found wanting in the build up.
Mee 6 Also could have done better for their winner and our failure to hold on to a lead now could become a "thing"
Pieters 6 Not to his recent standards
JBG 6 We are better with him in the side
Westwood 5 I think he is in a bit of a spell of bang average form
Brownhill 4 WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT MARCUS - Purple patches but even in those spells for me he does not have a big enough impact in terms of assists and never looks like adding goals to his game. Starting to irritate me as there is something there but without the productivity I would rather have Cork. Cant believe he is being touted for a move to a bigger club. Could still come good but probably only in the Championship if we go down.
McNeil 7 Thought he was our best midfield player
Vydra 7 He does offer us something and cant be faulted for effort or our defeat
Wood 7 Playing well at the minute - faded once we started hoisting aimless punts up to our front two once behind.

Also a game of two benches. They bring on two players who can and did change a game and we didn't have anybody.
Spoilt my Sunday and I will be irritated all week and again looking below us and supporting anyone playing Fulham. We should be ok but one team normally get dragged in to the mix and no win at TM for 7 games is a concern.

Marcus Aurelius?
Chin up. It's just a game.

JBG 5

Brownhill 5
McNeil 7
Wood 7
Vydra 7

Think its time to have Cork back in the team, and I would marginally favour Taylor over Pieters as he is a better defender, and surprised he did not start today

I thought we played ok, generally bossed the game but lacked quality in our final pass. Again we showed we are a one trick pony, if Plan A doesn't work, revert to Plan A. Not too many options on the bench to get us a goal but plenty to stop us conceding.

We created enough chances to win three games. We need to take them. We appeared frightened of Saint Maximin. Very un-Burnley like.

Taking the emotion out of a defeat like that is really hard. We were comfortably the better side for all but 5mins and yet we lost. As much down to the inadequacies of our transfer dealings as anything else. The fact the commentator even said SD might need to look at DALE STEPHENS or Cork to try and change the scoreline as we didn’t have much on the bench says absolutely everything about the direction we have been heading in. The summer is huge.

I’m going to give them all a 6.

Many things we did well and many things that could and should have been better.

The keeper and defence did well for all but 5 mins, but they conceded 2 and we lost so no better.

The midfield controlled the game, helped to create openings but we didn’t make enough of our chances.

The strikers combined well, worked hard, creates opportunities but we only scored 1 goal in a game of plenty of opportunities.

Can't believe some of the very low scores.

Pieters 6
Gudmundson 6
Brownhill 6
Westwood 7
McNeil 7
Wood 7
Vydra 8 mom constant threat, if only we played more quality balls to him
Dyche..5 Cork should play IMHO. Why make an attacking substitution so late again when we are chasing the game is beyond me.

P Farrell 6
Lowton 5 poor balls in
Tarkowski 5 half asleep sometimes
Mee 5
Pieters 5
JBG 5
Brownhill 4 was he playing ? Oh yes he did that awful free kick. Needs to offer far more
McNeil 5
Wood 7 good first half
Vydra 7 mom

Really poor to lose after taking lead in 2 consecutive games against rivals in table. Knew we would struggle to deal with Maximim. Bench was pathetic and failure to strengthen is really coming home to roost.
