The sooner this season ends the better. Another poor game to add the many poor games this season.

Dyche 1 we needed the manager more than ever tonight and he might as well not have been there. Over run, we needed a formation change and his battlers on. Bardsley and Barnes should have been early. Instead the 60 minute sub alarm went off and he brings on the out of form striker.
How can that be the same team from last week?

It wasn't - last week was Wolves, this week it was West Ham and that was the big difference.

Lowton 4 after his purple patch we can forgive him this shocker
Tarkowski 5
Mee 6
Taylor 5 sloppy poor delivery
Brownhill 5 aimless clearances put in trouble
Cork 5 never in the game,
Westwood 5 as above
McNeil 4 very poor, cost the team a goal
Wood 7* mom
Vydra 6 seems to complicate every chance he gets rather than smashing it
Rodriguez 5 below par
We were well and truly beaten by the better side tonight, and fortunately they didnt have their scoring boots on as it could have been 4 or 5.
We never really caused them any issues, they had bags of the things we need, pace, power and stregth running right through the team.
Just need this season over with, I've never known us lose so often when going infront, and although WHU thoroughly deserved their win, we were creators of our own downfall, really sloppy at the back.

An excellent effort 2nd half we could have stole a point.
Can't compare this performance to Wolves. Wolves were poor and West Ham are a top side, so you can't be to harsh on our lads who never gave up

Re: Burnley v West Ham - Player Ratings
Battled hard against a technically superior WHU side but were in it till the end thanks to sheer grit and determination. No complaints from me about the work effort and performance. Strangely enough I thought that SD may have gone 4-5-1 tonight due to how WHU are playing and the fact that we would always be overrun in midfield.
Pope 6 Did nothing wrong
Lowton 6
Tarkowski 7
Mee 6
Taylor 7* Thought he worked his socks off.
Brownhill 5
Cork 5
Westwood 5
McNeil 4 At fault for their 2nd when he tamely lost possession.
Wood 7 Battled hard but no real quality deliveries to him tonight.
Vydra 6
Rodriguez 4 (-1 for that miss)

There was a big difference in quality of opposition no doubt.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 10:16 pmIt wasn't - last week was Wolves, this week it was West Ham and that was the big difference.
But our performance was way off.
Re: Burnley v West Ham - Player Ratings
Pope 5 - thought his distribution was poor and weirdly despite West Hams openings didnt have many saves to make. One decent save second half but youd expect him to make it. Potential lack of communication on both goals.
Lowton 5 - one excellent cross early doors which Vydra should have attacked, delivery generally ok but really struggled defensively and partly culpable for both goals.
Tarkowski 5 - some good, some not good. The indecision and lack of communication for the goals was a bit of a worry. To which he was party.
Mee 6 - dogged with a couple.of excellent blocks. Would have rather him be in Tarks position for the second though and Tarka covering RB...
Taylor 6 - played fairly well and a constant outlet with a couple.of excellent deliveries.
Brownhill 6 - showed good feet on occasions and generally used the ball well. Worked hard as ever.
Westwood 5 - excellent ball for the first but a real tough evening in there tonight.
Cork 5 - we really struggled with their number of bodies in there this evening and the fluidity which they moved the ball with. Some.good bits of play but far too intermittent.
McNeil 4 - very poor tonight.
Wood 5 - did well for the goal but otherwise dont think he really did enough and was sloppy in possession.
Vydra 4 - really struggled to hold on to possession for us this evening.
Jay 6 - should have scored but held the ball much better and allowed us to get up the pitch
West Ham were very good this evening, Moyes got his tactics absolutely spot on and the 'zip'in the pitch certainly helped. We werent on it this evening and our front two were especially culpable of surrendering possession softly and not giving us a base from which to play.
Strange one because we still had a couple of big chances which could.have resulted in a point, but we didnt really deserve anything from the game.

Lowton 3 - been excellent recently but very poor tonight
Tarkowski 5 - bambi
Mee 6 - bullied
Taylor 7
Brownhill 7
Cork 4 - busted, needs to play in a 3 or not at all
Westwood 4 - needs a better partner
McNeil 9 (4) - is doing his best to dissuade summer bids from others with a shocking performance. Top lad.
Wood 7* - Normal Wood performance, quality Premier League forward
Vydra 7 works so hard in the channels and was unlucky not to get more success
Rodriguez 3 - busted

Re: Burnley v West Ham - Player Ratings
Got to disagree. There was nothing wrong with our performance, certainly in terms of effort and commitment. We stayed right in it to the end against top quality opposition. If we’d have nicked a point some of the views expressed here would be the polar opposite.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 10:25 pmThere was a big difference in quality of opposition no doubt.

Re: Burnley v West Ham - Player Ratings
No cracks and not ever widening although, of course, you enjoy nothing better than being critical and having a go at the club and the team.
West Ham were excellent I thought tonight and made it very difficult for us, Wolves weren't good last week and we made it very difficult for them.

I agree with others that the effort was definitely there and we really did our utmost to try to steal a largely undeserved point second half, but I always felt it more likely they'd get a third tbh. They are a very good side these days and we couldn't live with them, especially their pace and movement up front and in midfield. Their defence isn't the best and we were always in with a shout with only the one goal in it, but we really are too pedestrian and haven't the guile or creativity to unlock even poor defences. Our crossing is woeful and our first touch usually poor. Woods winning of the penalty showed just what you COULD have won with a little more invention!!

Re: Burnley v West Ham - Player Ratings
I can’t wait for this season to end. Although with this ageing squad, I can’t say that I’m looking forward to next season.
Pope 7 made saves to keep us in the game
Lowton 3 back to his usual standard. Time for a new right back
Tarky 5
Mee 6
Taylor 6 was our most effective player going forward
Brownhill Square peg in a round hole
Cork 4
Westwood 4
McNeil 4 poorest game in a claret shirt lost the ball for WHU goal
Wood 6 took the penalty well
Vydra 6 tried, but service was poor
Rodriguez 5 should have taken his chance

Re: Burnley v West Ham - Player Ratings
Our league position would appear to suggest otherwise
But we all live in hope that the season ends well, and we have a positive summer transfer window

Re: Burnley v West Ham - Player Ratings
Pope 6 collected a few high balls but couldn’t anything about the goals
Lawton 5 Not on a par with his recent performances
Tarks. 5 caught out to high up the pitch several times
Mee. 5 same as Tarks but missed some crucial tackles aswell, but made up for it with some good blocks
Taylor 7 tried to get forward, put in a couple of good crosses
Brownhill 7 thought he had a good game playing against a midfield full of pace
Cork. 6 covered a lot of ground
Westwood 5 delivery under par by his standards
McNeil. 5 promising early doors, but faded late in the game. No surprise he got hooked
Vydra. 5 he so unlucky, nothing seems to fall in his favour
Wood. 7 a man on form, would have been helped with better delivery into box
J Rod. 5 made an impact when introduced, but should have at least hit the target with his best chance
JBG 5 just can’t find the form he’s capable of
We just came up a West Ham side on top form, and just our bad lick Antonio was back from injury

Re: Burnley v West Ham - Player Ratings
Not just the team quality, but the mentality. West Ham have a huge prize to play for. As good as we were, Wolves wanted no part of the game at all. They simply didn't match our fight, West Ham did with quality to make it pay.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 10:16 pmIt wasn't - last week was Wolves, this week it was West Ham and that was the big difference.
