Aren't you cherry picking the info there a bit though?

Its after the take over, which we know has been partly funded by the cash in the bank, and its after a couple of tough years financially

And the wage to turnover ratio trend is clear to see (70% is the recommended I seem to recall)

All I'm saying is that the financial realities are instinctually linked to our ability to operate in the transfer market, and that it deserves to be on this thread
It's not after a couple of years, that money was in the club coffers 6 months ago. FACT (this is reality)
That money was excess, built up from remaining AFTER wages were paid FACT

I mentioned the takeover using some (or maybe all?) of that money. Who knows.

But the reality is, a large amount of money WAS in the club accounts, that could've been used on transfers instead of a takeover, now who knows how much remains. You were talking about people seeing reality, I just gave you the factual reality.

You'll have to bring up the reports mate to be honest

If we had £80 million in the bank six months ago then that is a huge game changer

It would be much better if people posted screenshots of the tweet instead of just linking the twitter link. Same goes for links on other sites as on some sites (like the LET for example) it is unreadable.

Common knowledge, information is readily available for you to research. The accounts were published, many financial experts have commented on funds being available pre takeover, numerous reports of the takeover structure using cash reserves. I mean it would take a pedantic soul like yourself to try argue there wasn't a healthy cash balance pre takeover, didn't Pace even say as much himself.

Guys, a plea

If you are going to copy info from twitter, then its not hard to check how many followers the source has first before posting it on here.

If they are a legit source, their follower count will be a good guide

And regarding the financial info being highlighted on here

I know people don't like it, but the reality is that is the key to how we can perform in the transfer market.

You can either live in the real world of football finance (which isn't going to be pleasant reading if you think we've millions in the bank) or you can keep pretending that FM is real life.

Hiding from the reality doesn't help anyone
I generally whole heartedly subscribe to this line of thinking, and endorse the point you’re making.

It is however funny to me that on this occasion, the guy with 200 followers or whatever it was actually broke this news before John Percy and it appears to be entirely correct!

Sorry if it's been mentioned earlier, but have we had a bid accepted for Collins from Stoke? Just sorting personal terms and it's done?

If the player is planned to have a medical, I’d have thought that the personal terms have already been agreed.

If Tarkowski is sold, do we think Collins would be going straight into the side? It strikes me (perhaps incorrectly) that we were after two centre backs. I can see us signing one with more games under their belt to drop in alongside Mee if Tarky does go (Worrall?). Collins as an option at right back is also a bit of a ‘two birds one stone’ bonus.

On this thread we get people complaining of lack of links, then the quality of the links when they are posted. Not to mention the complaints about the focus of the conversation when there’s no links to discuss whatsoever.

For me this is a thread about summer BFC transfer business and I’ve not read anything I’d consider massively irrelevant to that topic.

Live and let live, I say, or it’ll be a long summer.

A really promising signing. With the big positive it is before pre season even starts. Let’s hope he is fit and ready to go for the pre season.

Massive worry for me if that is the plan.

Re: Collins I can see him starting his career at RB until he has games under his belt.

If Tarks goes I think we need another player with experience - Cahill might be an option for a year. I’m hoping Tarks stays though.

Tarkowski is going to Real Madrid to replace Ramos, he's taking back control of his own career, he's sick of being a world class superstar stuck at Burnley! future England captain!

So they're not facts then, just speculation. The only fact available is that the club had £80m in the bank on 30 June 2020, from the published accounts. The accounts also show that there were amounts owing of £75m and net current assets of £15m, so the majority of that cash in the bank was already spent and not available for transfers.

Not sure why you felt the need for the personal comment either.

Neil Jones has reported for goal the below.

Burnley & Brighton at front of queue to sign Nat Phillips this summer.

#LFC reluctant sellers, but will do business at right price.

Phillips: “Every player wants to be playing games. At the stage I’m at, I need to be playing games for my development."

It would appear Tarks is on way out if these two are both signing

I've never heard an ex player come out before the season to the newspaper and publicly mention ''taking back control of my own career''.

If we are in for any Liverpool back up CB I hope its Davies, get Davies.

Further behind in the pecking order than Phillips, cheaper, left footed too, so adds balance and can be groomed for when Mee's time is up/injured.

Oh, and we also wanted him in January too...

Probably best to forget about this one then. Liverpool's "right price" will probably be double what anyone else in the world thinks he's worth.

The Liverpool central defenders were all over the place against us, I lost count the amount of times we pumped it forward and the CBs either let the ball bounce or it beat them and we were in behind. It was like Sunday league defending, they were constantly caught out and it didn't even need a flick on.

Providing we don't get priced out by any other clubs on Collins, Ben Davies would be the ideal back up if Tarks goes
Only ever seen Davies play left side. Good player but who are you dropping, Ben or Charlie?

He is left side. You’re not, it’d be cover & you’d have to assume he’d rather sit on Liverpool’s bench than ours. Although he’d be second choice here & presumably several down the order at Liverpool.

That doesn't make sense....

It would be good to have cover if Mee is injured/out of form and having two left footed centre halves playing together doesn't seem to be doing Spain any harm in the Euros.

Really don't buy the "two left footers can't play together" theory.

I think the order of things usually is

1. Agree deal with club
2. Agree deal with player
3. Medical
4. Sign

It appears 1 is complete and you would think talks with agent would be far enough down the road for 2 not to be a major obstacle.

The way some agents work it will often be:-

1. Agree deal with player
2. Agree deal with club
3. Medical
4. Sign

I've not seen enough of him to judge how good/bad/otherwise he is. More a point of the ridiculous valuations Liverpool put on their players.

Strange injury too - fracture in the bottom of his foot
But not as strange as a fracture in the foot of his bottom

I've not seen enough of him to judge how good/bad/otherwise he is. More a point of the ridiculous valuations Liverpool put on their players.
Yeah whoever sells the players at Liverpool is a fantastic negotiator, I still don't know how they got £130m+ for Coutinho, fine player no doubt but he was never worth that amount. They always seem to get top top dollar.

They've got almost as clever as Man U were under Ferguson for getting over the odds for players.

essentially they have got people to pay for a brand not the player when it comes to the young ones they are discarding, anyone that falls for that is making a big mistake

I've re read my original tweet, and you are the third person to read what you think I've said, rather than what I've said

Its a guide, no more than that, and there are other factors.

My mistake for not putting those in, but there are posts on this thread from twitter from posters who have just looked at the story and not checked anything else out.

Now that is what Conroy 92 wants to see, and that is fine

I don't, as I don't post much these days but I do read this thread so I'd prefer it to be full of actual rumours that might come off as opposed to ones made up by bored saddos.
:D :D at no stage did I say I want to see made up rumours. I'd appreciate it if you didn't make things up/put words in my mouth, ironic considering your top sentence of "you are the third poster who hasn't read what I said".
What I did tell you is that you shouldn't complain about the source of a rumour on a rumours thread and I also suggested you were in the wrong place. :D :D A true rumour is a bit of an oxymoron in my book.
This has been made funnier by the original tweeter (who had very little followers) getting it spot on. So is this now a true rumour or still a fake one to you?

That doesn't make sense....

It would be good to have cover if Mee is injured/out of form and having two left footed centre halves playing together doesn't seem to be doing Spain any harm in the Euros.

Really don't buy the "two left footers can't play together" theory.
It's a theory and that's about it. It has certainly never been proved. Same with strikers; Peter Withe and Tony Woodcock were brilliant together during Notts Forest's halcyon days under Clough.

Or getting himself a better deal to stay!
Read the Sky article now and very much sounds like that’s the case.

Still, if our interest means Newcastle have to pay more to secure his extension :D

I was meaning that my understanding is that Davies is a LCB.

My assumption is that we’re allegedly looking for two CB’s this window and I’m assuming that we’re looking for one RCB (Collins) and one LCB (Worrall) to cover Mee.

Davies would be an alternative to Worrall but wouldn’t replace Mee so would he come to sit on our bench when he has the option to do the same at Liverpool?

I’ve no doubt a left-footed player could play on the right and plenty do. My point was more around that we appear to be looking for specialists to fill certain gaps in the squad.
