Sad state of affairs when this thread has turned into ice cream puns and discussing other clubs business.

Not wanting to discrediting anyone but it you’ve got the time, it wouldn’t be hard to prepare an article based on players we’ve been linked with in the press…Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 3:06 pmHow do you explain the site having an article up about players signing, the minute the club announces them?

Based on our efforts and success in getting players from overseas I never got excited about Cornet coming. We just seem to be way behind our competitors in our scouting abroad-with the obvious exclusion of Steven De Four. It also appears that the names we are getting linked with at present has dropped right off. Sadly we have several tough games coming up before the window closes. If the new owners needed further evidence that the team needs to be urgently strengthened then that might just happen in the games against Liverpool and Leeds .
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
The home game against Leeds last season is as much evidence as you need, we looked an old poor side and got outworked, stuffed and embarrassed by a younger fresher better side who'd just been promoted.warksclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 3:26 pmBased on our efforts and success in getting players from overseas I never got excited about Cornet coming. Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Nope, the tv money received in July 2020 for the 2020/21 was recorded as deferred revenue because it was received with respect to the football season that would commence after the accounting period end date of 31st July 2020. The same accounting rules also apply to any season ticket revenue received before the start of the season.Long Time Lurker wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 12:08 am
I suspect the TV money was accrued in anticipation of what Mike Garlick thought would be heavier Covid losses.
The accounting entries are made according to the accounting rules that apply to all companies (not just football clubs). There was no decision that Mike Garlick had to make or could make with respect to the presentation of these "early receipt of payments" that related to the next football season.

In the past possibly, though open to debate if that's allowed...... To be fair I could do articles about players we might sign, when was the last one that nobody knew about.... I Carnt remember us doing what villa did with ings... Its not a criticism of anyone, its just the way the club is run nowadays, something CT has admitted to.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 3:06 pmHow do you explain the site having an article up about players signing, the minute the club announces them?

There will be no more incomings and the sooner we all accept it the quicker this thread can be locked and we can look forward to the season.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Hmm, that's not really how the prodigal son story worked...
Imagine if the bible said "There was a father and he told his son that he wasn't offering him a new contract and that the son should leave and go elsewhere. Later, the father's estate was sold to new owners and the new owners said to the father, please get some new workers. Then the father thought, what is my son doing? I wonder if he will come back and work on my fields again? My son will already know where my barn is and the field it is in. He will also recall the names of some of my other sons. We've had much success, though some of my sons are getting older. So, the father sent out for his son that he had sent away and said to his son that there were many trials and he wondered if his son, who had gone away, would like to come back as a trial-ist and pass amongst his other sons. And, lo, his son said yes, he would welcome passing amongst his other sons and, if things were good, he'd welcome the opportunity to wear the purple, nay, claret robes of his father's estate and he would (try and) run amongst his sons and, if a goal was scored (because that remains the aim and the goal of the father and his many sons) there would be great celebrations and hugging and, maybe even a little dancing, though modestly and without removing the claret shirt for fear of the yellow mark.
Something to think about.

My point was him playing in a tin pot league is a waste of his genuine talent. I understand why he's made that decision for him and his family thoughJakubclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 6:15 amAgree aren’t most transfers though for a player it’s mainly maximise your earnings whilst you are at your best & in demand it’s a short lived career. I think some of the league standards will improve overseas if they continue to throw the money about & attract the players & it’s 1 thing the Saudis aren’t short of.

I am enjoying the idea that Burnley Football Club, managed by Sean Dyche, would be looking to sign an Ivorian left back-cum-winger called Maxwel Cornet (pronounced Cor-nay) from a French team called Olympique Lyonnais.
We've certainly got history when it comes to those sorts of deals.

I'll also add that Nixon doesn't believe that the Hertha chase of Cornet is that serious, he also said the word patience. It's the hope that kills you.

Not necessarily. I have gone into several of the last 5-6 years in the PL quite upbeat, but usually when we have made significant signings and kept freshening and strengthening the first starting 11. The last 3-4 windows have been disastrous and admittedly have feared relegation in the last two seasons

Don't be alarmed. You haven't yet stepped into one of Sidney's parties. In this case the word 'cum' is being used to signal a combination of roles.
To use another example, Alan Pace is now the owner-cum-chairman-cum-CEO-cum-commercial director-cum-academy director-cum-media manager. You get the idea.

Remember when some questioned Dyche possibly moving to Palace and labelled it a sideways move?
They are now in advanced talks to sign Armstrong from those down the road for a fee close to £20m. Not saying they will get him but that would take their spending close to or above £60m I believe. Whereas we are here with a net £0 spend reluctant to just pay the cash for a super talented player who would improve us in Cornet.
Can see why Dyche would have surely jumped at the chance.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
The lack of a signed contract from Dyche after CT rumoured it months ago is a bit worrying. I must admit I was expecting a few incomings to keep him happy.
It's early days but I've already not much faith in the new board, it's beginning to seem like they had all the right things to say about investment with no follow through.
At this rate I can see Garlick being back in charge rather than investment in the playing side.
Hopefully in wrong.

£60m and four of them are Untried in the PL. Stop wetting yourself over CP, they will struggle as every other season.RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 4:32 pmRemember when some questioned Dyche possibly moving to Palace and labelled it a sideways move?

Spot on - like I said in the recruitment is pathetic thread - exactly the same with Albrighton just press associations for effect - never a target we would ever have got over line if he was sat in a room at turf Moor with a pen in his handclarethomer wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 2:53 pmHave we actually anything concrete to suggest that we were ever in for him?
If we are in for him - He hasn't signed for anyone at this stage so nothing has been wasted.
I highly doubt we are looking at 1 player at a time. I can imagine there are always different conversations going on.
The reports of the player having a preference to play in Germany have been around for weeks so I wouldn't be put off by what is being reported as fact when it's likely a journalist just piggybacking off what they have read from an earlier report which probably has equally no credibility
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
The only thing to save us with SD is ok he leaves but where does he go ?? There's been plenty of jobs over the last couple of years that would have suited but he's got nowhere near them. You look at Eddie Howe, over last 2 years touted for Arsenal and England in dispatches but currently still on shelf. The "job for life" theory might work and for total security he might sign.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 4:52 pmThe lack of a signed contract from Dyche after CT rumoured it months ago is a bit worrying. Point was more along the lines of Dyche, if he had that kind of money to spend - he’d put Palace (and probably us) in the top half. But yet at the time people were suggesting Palace would be a sideways move from us.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 5:10 pm£60m and four of them are Untried in the PL. I agree with what you're saying, but if you look at the bigger picture there's other things here that Dyche would prefer compared to Palace. Its not all about transfer money you can spend.

I'm sick to the back teeth of your snide comments about me. I’ve just had a shockingly bad week, one of the worst in my life, yet I’ve just been alerted to post after post after post from you undermining me. I’m no prepared to put up with it any longer.
And for what it’s worth, I know a hell of a lot more than you.
