Seeing as Teemu Pukki still can't trap a bag of cement by the looks of it they might need his goals if Norwich are to stay up.

The 3 lowest scoring teams in the PL Season 20/21 were Sheffield United, Fulham and Burnley.

If we are to avoid relegation next season we need to bolster our attacking options especially from midfield.

Very good signing for Norwich, one that I would have thought we’d look at for an affordable price.

The Liverpool central defenders were all over the place against us, I lost count the amount of times we pumped it forward and the CBs either let the ball bounce or it beat them and we were in behind. It was like Sunday league defending, they were constantly caught out and it didn't even need a flick on.
Didn’t he get MoM?

The biggest issue in terms of goals is where they come from if and when our strikers are out of form.

We’ve done brilliantly defensively - if we could retain this whilst adding a few extra goals from midfield and defence, it could be worth a good few extra points.

His aim this season has to be to claim a regular starting spot in central midfield. I’m yet to be convinced he’s up to that standard - hopefully I’m wrong.

I’m sure he’s on a massive salary, though I’m not sure quite how big - but seeing him punditing tonight for ITV has reminded me that Andros Townsend is out of a contract.

Would he not be a really good option for a couple of years? Proper London lad I know, but has played for Newcastle and had a spell at Leeds too on loan so perhaps not entirely against a Northern move. I can think of worse ways to spend Ashley Young’s wages personally.

Rumours on Twitter suggest we have offered £8.3m (oddly specific) for Phillips, but that they want £10m.

Phillips looked very solid and very ‘Burnley’ against us at the Turf when he scored. He’s a good age at 24 but pretty inexperienced all told, £10m seems a fair amount considering the club he is coming from in my book.

Again, you surely have to think if we’re bringing two CB’s in that we have a buyer in the wings for Tarky.

I'm hoping we're signing 2 defenders this summer but keeping Tarks for another year, (at least!), with the idea of replacing both Mee and Tarks over the next 18 months. It is needed.

Still need strengthening in other areas too, but all looking positive so far...

Liverpool aren't offloading him at that price (if true) because he's any good. They don't rate him and want shut and we can spend our limited funds much more wisely imo.

I must ring BFC straight away to let them know that one of the best judges in the land of defenders in Sean Dyche has been doing it all wrong! All this time he should have been using the player valuation to determine quality!

Tarks wants away and Ben Mee is not far off being 32 years of age and the backups are adequate stop-gaps for injuries but not long-term replacements... We absolutely need two Center Backs, irrespectively of Tarks going or not! If he stays another year or we get near 20m for him, we will be happy either way, especially if we get 2 quality central defenders in first. This is what we should have done a few windows back for continuity so it looks like SD is being backed and the new board understand SD's thinking and the way football works! Still early days but looking promising.

Early days in the negotiations, you need to put that statement into a translator - maybe Google's?
BFC say: We want to keep JT and are prepared to let his contract run out = your offer needs to be higher.
WHU say: We're no longer interested and are pursuing other targets = your asking price needs to be lower.

IMO our signing of Collins early (very early for us!) in the transfer window was necessary to restore the options/negotiation position that we lost with the Ben Gibson debacle; therefore we're now better able to consider life without JT and the likelihood of us selling him if the price is high enough has increased. Should negotiations progress well with regard to our signing the Liverpool lad too - I don't think that one'll need to be signed and sealed beforehand just be going the right way - then JT'll move to WHU (possibly Wolves?) for a mutually acceptable fee.

I take your point LC , but it may be that Collins perhaps will have to wait 12 months, maybe for Tarkowski to leave, before becoming a regular, in the same way as Tarkowski himself did. Collins can also play at Right back , where we currently have a 36 year old and s 32 year old in the squad.

If we’re banking on a 20 year old with no Prem experience to replace Tarkowski, I’ll be worried. Collins looks like a good signing but one for the future and possibly RB cover first. If Tarks is off I think we need someone more experienced- not even sure Phillips ticks that box really.
