Burnley Red Cards
Burnley Red Cards
This may have already been discussed on here but since Robbie Brady was sent off at Huddersfield Town in January 2019, we have played 89 matches without seeing a BFC player receiving his marching orders.
Ipswich Town hold the record - 94 Premier League games from 1992-1994, so if we manage to avoid any red cards before the end of the season we will be in touching distance of the record come the August restart.
I've probably jinxed us now but thought it was worth mentioning as it is a great achievement by the players and management at our beloved club.

Re: Burnley Red Cards
We are third in the Fair Play League behind Liverpool and Manchester City
Re: Burnley Red Cards
And yet some fans of other clubs still insist on calling us a dirty side! But that's usually after we've beat them!

Man city are a very cynical side knowing they get favourable refs.

Re: Burnley Red Cards
CIty are second in the table for the least number of fouls committed with 332 and they have received 39 yellow and 1 red card.
Burnley are joint fourth in that table having committed 353 fouls and received 46 yellows.
What is interesting to me is that we are 12th in the table of most fouled clubs, having been fouled 364 times, however, our opponents have received just 26 yellow and 2 red cards which amounts to 14 fouls per card.
Compare this to Arsenal who have been fouled 399 times but whose opponents have received 70 yellows and 2 reds which is 5.70 fouls per card.
All the so-called top clubs average around 6.5 to 7.5 fouls per cards issued to their opponents.
The nearest clubs to us are Crystal Palace who have been fouled 388 times and whose opponents have received 35 yellow and 4 reds amounting to 11.09 fouls per card. Fulham have been fouled 352 times and their opponents received 37 yellows and 1 red which is 9.51 fouls per card.
It appears that fouls on some players must be worse because they are a valuable commodity ------surely not!

Re: Burnley Red Cards
Then again, given how little time with the ball that City's opponents tend to get over the course of each match, they don't have as much opportunity as anyone else to commit them.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 2:18 pmCIty are second in the table for the least number of fouls committed...

Re: Burnley Red Cards
Well, only when we win, so I guess less this season.
Re: Burnley Red Cards
I believe we equalled the PL all-tme record yesterday.
Re: Burnley Red Cards
Of the 380 fouls on Crystal Palace players, 380 were on Zaha.

We did and although we have a reputation (according to some) of being a dirty team we also hold a record for being the best behaved club in Premier League history with our red cards coming at one every 36 games ...

Re: Burnley Red Cards
We're certainly not a dirty team, physical yes absolutely, but we have an unfair reputation as a bunch of cloggers, in fact you could even argue that we don't make enough fouls in the middle of the pitch especially, hence why teams can often overpower us in midfield. or simply play through us far too easily.Bosscat wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 5:14 pmWe did and although we have a reputation (according to some) of being a dirty team we also hold a record for being the best behaved club in Premier League history with our red cards coming at one every 36 games ...
