Loving Vyds...
Not always been his biggest fan but he’s in outstanding form and a joy to watch at the moment.

I love the mobility he brings to the attack but should have scored the chance before half time.

Doing very well, just needs a bit more composure in front of goal.

Brings so much to the team. Someone you really want to do well as well, just seems like a well liked guy. Would be a massive loss if he left in the summer

Re: Loving Vyds...
Did anyone hear the shout of ‘Come On Vyds’ from a teammate when Lowts put that brilliant ball into the space for him to run at ?

Brings a different dimension to the team
It’s easy to defend 2 attackers that play the width of the 18yrd box.
Have a player that runs the channels like he does and it make them have to think differently

Re: Loving Vyds...
One piece of business we need to do this summer is tie him down to a longer contract, he's only got a year left, and he's now one of the first names on the team sheet, so it's time his value was recognised.

Agreed. One of our most important players at the moment. Would place him above Dwight in terms of consistent influence on the game.

Re: Loving Vyds...
Glad we got the chance to see how good a player he is . I hope any doubts anybody had about whether he is a PL player or not have gone.
His qualities have been identified by others as has his need to improve his composure in front of goal. Whether the extra confidence he has gained will do that I don’t know, hope so like everybody.
The piece from last nights game that impressed me the most about Vydra ,and showed his own ability to recognise the skills he has got , is his assist for the key first goal.
Having had his assisted goal ruled out because he ran the ball marginally over the line , when given a similar opportunity to go at the defender he took it. Realising what can happen he made sure this time the ball didn’t go out of play. In such a small space with no margin for error this was skill of the highest order.

Re: Loving Vyds...
Vyds IMHO has been treated poorly by the management for a while, he hasn't sulked just got his head down and we are now reaping the rewards . He seems very popular with the players as well.
Re: Loving Vyds...
Very deserving of his place and makes us play different from the Wood/Barnes combo, I think the playing different due to his pace and movements makes us a better team plus it looks better. There is no doubt he needs to score more and hopefully that will come with an extended run next season from day one.

Re: Loving Vyds...
Vydra showed great strength , speed and skill on more than one occasion against Leeds , creating space for himself and the team when surrounded by Leeds players .
His failure to score at 0-1 today has either been seen as a bad miss or a great save. That judgement seems to have been the difference of a players rating score of either a 4 or 6/7.
I hope he wins Most Improved Player of the Season , if such an award exists.
To go on to win Player of the Season he does need to make me feel he’s going to score when he does all the hard work. There are certain players you know are not going to score when they get into dangerous positions and unfortunately Vydra is one of those unfortunately this season.
One less touch and more composure Matty will make you a top class PL striker

As I said on another thread if he was better in front of goal he would be a real too striker and worth a lot of money.Elizabeth wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 12:45 pmVydra showed great strength , speed and skill on more than one occasion against Leeds , creating space for himself and the team when surrounded by Leeds players .

Re: Loving Vyds...
I always thought Wood and Jay was our best pairing: however I now think Vyds has got to start with Wood. If only he could grab a few more goals from his chances, he would be a real striker.

The goals will come with game time, for sure. Just needs a consistent run in the team like Wood.

Re: Loving Vyds...
His finishing can definitely improve, but he struck the shot well against Leeds but was unfortunately denied by a good save.

Re: Loving Vyds...
As Sean keeps saying. "Fine margins." His luck will turn, just like Wood's has. Wood's finishing, or lack thereof, was appalling at the start of the season. Maybe it's Vyds that has changed things for him?
Re: Loving Vyds...
Quite a few.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 4:24 pmAnd how many times has the same thing been said about Wood, especially earlier this season?
Re: Loving Vyds...
His contribution for Westwood's goal was pretty much the same as a goal, I don't think it matters how many he's scoring, he's clearly contributing in other ways, he's transformed Wood's season.

Re: Loving Vyds...
I've mentioned before that he wins his fair share of headers against bigger players ...I also think now he is getting stronger and is harder to knock off the ball ...definitely worth extending his contract

Our No.2 striker for me. Certainly showing more than Jay or Ashley B.mill hill claret wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 4:55 pmI've mentioned before that he wins his fair share of headers against bigger players ...I also think now he is getting stronger and is harder to knock off the ball ...definitely worth extending his contract

Re: Loving Vyds...
Definitely his shirt to lose now, I wouldn't pay too much attention to his performance against Leeds everyone was off their game yesterday, but in every other game since he replaced Ash he's offered something to the cause, whether that be making runs, setting up chances, or just being a pest for defenders, and hopefully he'll bag a couple in the last 2 games, he's getting in the positions to miss these chances which is half the battle, now he just has to keep his composure and start taking them.

He’s not as short as you think either. Just looks it next to Wood.mill hill claret wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 4:55 pmI've mentioned before that he wins his fair share of headers against bigger players ...I also think now he is getting stronger and is harder to knock off the ball ...definitely worth extending his contract

Re: Loving Vyds...
on the assumption we don't go out and sign Mbappe then Wood and Vydra start next season for me, it would not surprise me to see one of Jay or Ashley leave in the summer though - both 31 and should rightly want to play
