Yes but they play pretty football, reminds me of Norwich last season, they look great on the eye, but they have no spine to their team, and once things start going against them they crumble, to survive in this league you need to dig out results, and they've never looked capable of doing that, hence why they're making a swift return to the Championship.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 10:10 pmIt’s because he has got them bang in form with 4 goals in 10 and 7 defeats in 8.

Precisely who they reminded me of. Particularly the two Norwich games last season. Where they faffed about and we were just ruthless in both games.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 10:28 pmYes but they play pretty football, reminds me of Norwich last season, they look great on the eye, but they have no spine to their team, and once things start going against them they crumble, to survive in this league you need to dig out results, and they've never looked capable of doing that, hence why they're making a swift return to the Championship.

Re: Scott Parker
Yep I must admit I was concerned after the first 6/7 games this season when we had only mustered 2 points, and were struggling to score goals, but many posters on here pointed out that our streetwise nature of this league would serve us well, and how right they were because we've actually survived fairly comfortably once again, despite all our on and off field travails through out the campaign, and a lot of the credit for that has to go to SD, he never panicked when the going got tough, and he always backed his squad to deliver when it mattered, and yet again they didn't let him down.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 10:35 pmPrecisely who they reminded me of. Re: Scott Parker
Seems like a decent bloke. His players have given it a real go and have played for him all season. He’s very inexperienced and his squad weren’t good enough but he is professional and composed. Whether he has the skills to sit at the top table time will tell.
CT is probably right that he is in the two worst managers in the league, if we discount Heckingbottom and Mason. But I would feel much more of a failure if I was failing to get anything resembling an identity out of a talented bunch of players at Arsenal than getting a poor squad of loanees relegated from the PL.

Maybe - but he's been allowed to bring in a lot of players.
Re: Scott Parker
If we're ignoring Sheff Utd's temporary situation then it's hard to disagree, I think Arteta is the worst, I'm not an Arsenal fan but some of the Arteta decisions are hilariously wild. 10 minutes to go in your biggest game of the season, you need 1 goal to advance to a final and you substitute Aubameyang off criminalClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 10:27 pmMedia seem to love him but I rate him one of the two worst managers in the league alongside Arteta

Re: Scott Parker
It got mentioned above - I was discounting Heckingbottom & Mason and I'd put Arteta at the top. But Parker, and I know he hasn't spent huge money, has made 13 signings since they won promotion if you include the loans. One of those signings was Anthony Knockaert last summer for £10 million and I wonder whether they were obligated to buy him having had him on loan because they quickly got him out on loan.KRBFC wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 11:21 pmIf we're ignoring Sheff Utd's temporary situation then it's hard to disagree, I think Arteta is the worst, I'm not an Arsenal fan but some of the Arteta decisions are hilariously wild. 10 minutes to go in your biggest game of the season, you need 1 goal to advance to a final and you substitute Aubameyang off criminal
Re: Scott Parker
I like Scott Parker, I hope Fulham stick with him again. I'm surprised they've been so bad though, decent squad on paper, probably too many loans not getting Mitrovic involved often and not being able to close games out. They have dropped something like 8 points in injury time this season.

Decent person and will use this season has a yard stick
to replace those who are not up to it .
Stopped us playing second half I thought
Not sure why he criticised over signings
Most managers make mistakes Gibson example
Let’s hope our new owners back Sean and we can move on

Re: Scott Parker
They made too many signings and lack desire. Not really a surprise given all the loans.
Don't personally rate Parker at all. He failed to control his players with covid which suggests bad man management to me. He's popular with the Fullham fans though so hopefully he gets another chance.

Re: Scott Parker
Like Fulham, Scotty Parker has a totally unjustified reputation as a half decent team
They are a team of mercenary loanees talked up by fools like Karney Carney and loved by the other pundits
Parker was a coach at Spurs who won the lottery money wise with the gig at Fulham. He had no track record as a manager and a strange choice to get the job.
Fulham wont come back up anytime soon as they look a disjointed beaten team whose members will now slink back to their real teams.

Re: Scott Parker
Watched his pre-match interview and thought he came across as a bit of a modern-manager cliche. If that’s how he communicates with players, it’s no wonder Fulham have only won 5 games all season.
He seems to be in that group of managers/players who are constantly talked about positively by the media, regardless of how well they are actually doing. Graham Potter is another in that category. He’s certainly the first manager I can remember being linked with big jobs whilst sat in the bottom 3, unable to get any goals out of his side and winless in 7 games.

He’s been fine. As with the other two relegated sides they just don’t score enough. That was where he needed to spend the money. Mitrovic and Cordova-Reid are Championship players and Maja has looked OK but needs coaching up.
The keeper, Andersen and Robinson are worth buying for clubs that need them positions filling.

I agree with Parker, he needs another ‘winning’ season to demonstrate his coaching and management qualities. Personally, I think he’ll jump ship soon after the season ends.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 11:20 pmMaybe - but he's been allowed to bring in a lot of players.
Arteta, I feel, has had some really big revolts in that dressing room that have impacted the results. I hope he is backed to ship out Aruba, Lacazette, Elneny, and so on.
I think he’s going to be a top top manager.

Re: Scott Parker
Fulham need to go back to the basics and start from scratch, they have proven that you won't get the best from a side loaded with loan players.
They have similar finances to Leeds who got promoted with them but are miles apart. Leeds have a team built up over many years and have got stronger as the season progressed, they will be challenging for a top 10 finish next season.
If Fulham don't change their strategy they will never be more than a one season wonder, with or without Parker

I thought he came across quite well in his post-match interview, it's pretty clear he's realised the game's up and next year - as Derby found when their loaned wonderkids were returned - Fulham's future is pretty grim.

Re: Scott Parker
I think Fulham will pot the Matalan Mourinho once the season ends. Talks a good job, speaks the cliches, unfortunately his patter writes cheques that him and his team are unable to cash. He identified their problems - crap at the back, crap up front but play some nice stuff in the middle. Unfortunately for Scotty, the 2 areas where his team are crap count for far more than endless passes around the halfway line.

Re: Scott Parker
I've not seen a lot of Andersen this season but I've seen him talked up quite a bit on here. I thought he was atrocious last night; slow, lumbering, clumsy and shocking distribution. Totally bullied by Wood, and even Vydra.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 7:32 amHe’s been fine. As with the other two relegated sides they just don’t score enough.
