Running along the goal line...
Twice last night Vyds got in behind, chose to run along the goal line towards goal. Result = 2 goals (one ruled out for the ball being out, which looked close to me).
There's so many times in games where we have an overlap on the left and Dwight/Taylor have a chance to drive in to the box but opt to cross. Clearly playing to our strengths but when we do it so often, defenders get set for the crosses coming in. I think we'd be so much more effective mixing it up and driving in from time to time.
Catches defences all over the shop and you either score, get a corner or a pen! Hope after last night we mix it up some more.

There was no definitive shot I saw that showed the first of those went out of play, like you I though it was very closeNewClaret wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 11:50 amTwice last night Vyds got in behind, chose to run along the goal line towards goal. Re: Running along the goal line...
Do they not have 'high-up-looking-straight-down' cameras? (I'm sure there's a word for that...)
Re: Running along the goal line...
It was *miles over the line... KRBFC said so on the match thread
I too wanted a second look with the goal line tech to check it. We have to trust the VAR officials who have reported it did go over the line, but these are the same VAR officials who got so much wrong last night... I'd be surprised if it was more than a cm or 2 over, what some people forget (and this is usually officials too especially for going over the line on the side for a throw) is that it has to be ALL of the ball over ALL of the line.
* exaggerated for KRBFC's benefit

Must admit when I 1st saw it as it happened, I said it was out ... my Brother was adamant it was in ... the camera angles were inconclusive ... so we said we will give the officials the benefit of the doubt but ... in hindsight we thought it was probably in just ... nevermind had no impact on the game and is just another talking point of no consequence

Re: Running along the goal line...
When VAR rules out goals for eyelashes being offside then surely making sure the whole of the ball as in goal line technology is over the line in these situations has to be a must otherwise it undermines all the advantages that VAR is allegedly supposed to bring to the game

Re: Running along the goal line...
I thought out as I first saw it, then in with the second angle but not conclusive. A camera on that line would have made for some interesting VAR replays and a probably goal, I think.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 12:36 pmThere was no definitive shot I saw that showed the first of those went out of play, like you I though it was very close
I was just pleased to see a Burnley player in that position making that run!!
Re: Running along the goal line...
On our disallowed goal it looked very similar to when you see teams taking a corner, from the first angle shown by tv the ball looks to be out of the D but when you get closer to it the overhang of the ball is on the line. I too would have liked to have seen more replays of it.

Re: Running along the goal line...
Having just watched it again I’m not convinced it was out. They should absolutely, definitely have shown the camera view along the line. Surely these are now compulsory at this level?
Or was it left to VAR to say we can’t definitively say the ref was wrong?
