Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
**** poor that. Played well for 10, then went down the beach. Centre halves pathetic on the goal.
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
Nothing game, I'd like to see Nartey and Richardson on asap, I love watching raw youngsters thrown in, I'd take a 4-2 loss right now with a Richardson brace off the bench!!Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 1:21 pmI don’t think the players have done much wrong. Tactically we’ve been awful. McNeil has caused problems centrally, but we’ve kept him on the wing and hoofed it forward time after time when their defenders are coping easily in the air. Brownhill isn’t a winger so there’s zero threat from the right. It’s just so easy for Leeds.
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
A well taken goal but if you continue to back off you've no chance. We must be on the front foot at the start of the second half otherwise we’ll struggle.

End of this season can't come quick enough.
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
Why put all the blame on the centre halves when centre mid was such an obvious problem on the goal?

Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
Yes and it's not the first time teams have run right through our midfield, this is an area that most definitely needs upgrading in the summer, far too lightweight in the middle of the park, and it will start really hurting us if it isn't remedied soon.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 1:20 pmWhere the f.ckwas our midfield? They ran from inside their own half without a hint of a challenge. Westy and the rest were trotting back yards behind. Against teams like Leeds you need to protect the defence.

Not the first time someone has run from half way and scored against us this season. They just back off and back off, someone for the love of god put a foot in.
That goal doesn’t help this love in for Leeds though.

Yer started really well then just drifted out of the game , now going to be hard to see if we can come back into this but like i have said maybe 100 times at least before " Sean will have a word at HT "
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
Looked a foul on Vydra in the build up, completely taken out of the game.
Poor from our midfield on the goal though, caught way out position. No blame on Tarks at all, hes been one of our best players.

At 30 minutes today when they had taken control he should have been telling them to stop pumping it. Be more patient. It’s like he thinks we’ll get at them in the air, but won’t change it when it becomes apparent it’s not working.

Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
Because they backed off so far they might as well have been sat on the front row of the Jimmy Mac. Tarky’s attempt at a block was borderline embarrassing. The centre mids aren’t good either of course, they were dragged too far over, but the attempt to close down and block was extremely lazy.

BPF should have done better he looked to have got his angles wrong, but it takes nothing away from the poor defending by Tarkowski

Yes so midfield was a problem too rather than loading all the blame on the centre halvesMDWat wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 1:26 pmBecause they backed off so far they might as well have been sat on the front row of the Jimmy Mac. Not keepers fault but Id bet my life if Pickford let that one in folk on here would have been blaming him and his short arms and would be adamant Pope would have saved it.

I’d bring Barnes on.

Our constant backing off reminds me of Lee Briscoe. ****** me off then and pisses me off now. Shambolic.

His starting position was too far to the right, or at least it looked that way to me, from the camera behind the goal. The Hung Juror wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 1:19 pmYou serious. Had no chance without. More like good job Tarkowski is going.
Defensively it was poor but I thought that the keeper was partly to blame.
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
You don't need to, this meaningless game is boring me to death, throw on the kids, it will peak my interest further. I like watching youth prospects in the first team, sink or swim time.

I’m watching the game in Australia, I know Jim Beglin is one of the commentators ( he is usually very complementary about Burnley ) I don’t know who the other guy is. But they are absolutely drooling over Leeds.SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 1:03 pmWomen commentator is Lucy Ward - She spent most of her senior career with Leeds United and was also head of education and welfare at the boys academy for Leeds United
Clearly unbiased and a great choice for independent summariser
I just don’t get the love in for Leeds with the media. I don’t know which UK channel Optus sports has the contract to show the premier league, but they are pretty neutral when it comes to Burnley games even when we play Man Utd.
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
He only seems to concede ''wonder goals'', certainly begs the question. Lets have it right, if Joe Hart or Pickford conceded that, they would be questioned and strung up on here.

Clear foul on Vydra on edge of box. So instead of fk on edge of box it’s a Leeds goal. Decisions like that change games.

Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
Defenders' natural instinct is to back off when a team is attacking, it is up to the midfield to offer the first line of defence, this midfield doesn't.
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
Nick Pope would have caught that easily with one hand
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
How is the midfield supposed to offer the first line of defence when they're ahead of the ball? the central defender has to close the man down.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 1:32 pmDefenders' natural instinct is to back off when a team is attacking, it is up to the midfield to offer the first line of defence, this midfield doesn't.

Of course he’s our best player and of course we don’t want to see him go. But no way could BPF save that so I’d thought I make an equally daft comment.claretcarrot93 wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 1:22 pmRead some strange stuff on here over the years. That’s the strangest. He is our best player

Optus sport, along with the other worldwide broadcasters all use the same commentary.MG70 wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 1:30 pmI’m watching the game in Australia, I know Jim Beglin is one of the commentators ( he is usually very complementary about Burnley ) I don’t know who the other guy is. It’s not “available” to watch by UK broadcasting
