I honestly don't think the score would have been any different had Pope been playing, defensive as been shocking

Watching Burnley this season genuinely makes me depressed. I might have to stop watching for my mental health

Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
Our recruitment just has to improve, £5m-8m on Stephens (fee, wages, bonuses combined) is a shocking waste of resources.

Leeds spending millions and millions and millions on players helps

Why did the ref let Leeds take that corner when he'd just seen on VAR it wasn't a corner?

Let’s hope that some proper investment can be made into this squad, this summer. We’re crying out for it in a number of positions.

Give over! BPF is league 1 at best from what I’ve seen of him. I’m not saying we wouldn’t have lost, but I think BPF should have saved 2 or maybe 3 of the four. Pope would have kept the score respectable. Really hope he’s not off to Spurs.Top Claret wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 2:16 pmI honestly don't think the score would have been any different had Pope been playing, defensive as been shocking

This. Several tines over.
We've done well considering we weakened the squad over summer and didn't address that in Jan.
Be interesting to see how Leeds do next season if they pick up a couple of key injuries
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
1-2M fee, 50k a week for 2 years is over 5 mill, then any further bonuses/signing fees. Stephens is going to cost this club somewhere between 5-9 million £.milkcrate_mosh wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 2:18 pmStephen's price is more volatile than bitcoin, how on earth have you worked that one out

Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
Tarkowski has spent most of the game more interested in aggressive challenges than concentrating on his positioning. A very poor performance from him.
Only Taylor has come out of that with any credit of the five at the back.

Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
And why have we no competition for places, I suggest you should be pointing a finger at the outgoing board who tied Sean's hands in the market last summer instead of wishing our most successful manager in decades is shown the door, or maybe you want to be visiting the likes of Bolton and Wigan in a few years when our inevitable demise kicks in.
Let's say SD decides to go elsewhere in the summer, who would you bring in as the gaffer, and what exactly do you expect him to do any differently to what SD has over the past few seasons, because I don't expect a magic money tree to suddenly appear new owners or not, so whoever succeeds Sean will have precisely the same restrictions to work under regarding transfer funds as he does, the difference is he's shown that he can get the maximum out of this squad and keep us in this league year in year out.

I suspect that SD will be handing out a serious b0ll0cking after that. Nowhere near our levels.

No keeper would have saved the first, only saved the second if it had been straight at them and the last two were 1-1 with no help from defence.Longsidebogs wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 2:20 pmGive over! Because the decision to give the corner isn't under review. It is not part of VAR's remit.SouthamptonClaret wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 2:18 pmWhy did the ref let Leeds take that corner when he'd just seen on VAR it wasn't a corner?

I don't think you can blame Peacock-Farrell too much, but there's certainly a Joe Hart element about his performance.
Has anyone seen more cheating than that Leeds team today?

2m in fee as the addons will be due. Plus he'd be on 30k a week. That's another 3.2m over the 2 years. Plus bonuses for staying up.milkcrate_mosh wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 2:18 pmStephen's price is more volatile than bitcoin, how on earth have you worked that one out
That's probably 6m maybe 7.
I'm furious our board didn't invest in the playing staff to fund their nice buy out
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
Could be a lot of repercussions after that. A game of 2 keepers I’m afraid. It’s rare when the ref has to stop the game to talk to both managers. Sure we will hear what that was all about shortly

9 million??
The fee is widely reported to have cost 1 million, Stephens is not going to cost us another 8 times that in two years that's clearly absurd.

He won't be on 50k a week unless you've got a link saying otherwise.
Most suggest its mid £30's.

Nice try from Brexit. I expect Dyche won’t care too much about this performance. If anything it strengthens his hand with the owners. Can’t help thinking that taking off Wood, Vydra and McNeil had nothing to do with this game!
